GLAM DAMN IT
Stuff We Love: butter London

The age old make-up adage “Play up the lips or the eyes, but never both,” has found a new companion in the subtlety of one of our favorite make up trends for this spring. First spotted on the runways of London Fashion Week just a short time ago, matching lip and nail color actually works on every skin, eye, and hair color (anyone can rock this look with the right shade). Thanks to the eco-friendly brand known as butter London, that this trend has been established. You’ve probably seen or heard of this company via high-end British labels like Alexander McQueen and Issa. With this kind of style cred, we know they mean business when it comes to trendsetting and couldn’t be more excited about the colors in their new spring line.

GLAM DAMN IT Sass & Bide
Trends: London Fashion Week Spring 2012

TRIBAL Exotic colors and graphically defined prints infuse tribal inspired designs that commanded attention on the runways. Sass & Bide achieved the look with ethnic beading in bright mosaics on structured tops paired with subdued skirts in contrasting draped silhouettes and solid saturated hues. More is more at Holly Fulton where varying tribal prints in the same monochromatic color combinations pair perfectly and fringe details also bring to mind global textile influence. Burberry Prorsum gives us literal tribal embellishment with geometrical shaped wooden beads adorning necklines and collars. Looks are finished with Far East footwear; braided raffia wrapped wedges with beaded strings draped around the ankles. Spring’s tribal trend is easily interpreted and you may find yourself moving away from the printed textiles (of previous seasons) to the tangible beadwork, which may even inspire you to handcraft a few DIY custom looks.
