what will you be wearing? Besides watching collections for upcoming seasons, fashion week is the two weeks out of the year a woman can express her sense of style as freely as she may please. Just as Halloween is to children, fashionista's shop, stalk and obsess over their wardrobe choices during this week. If you're anything like a native New Yorker fashion knows no limit --more is ALWAYS better. Leave simple and effortless behind, NYFW is the time to channel your inner diva, scarlet and overall inspiration.
Zac Posen's Pop-Up Shop: Clearly Target plans to take over the world - or at the least catch the consumers who love a zingy budget - with more NYC pop-up shops planned, the next being Go International's Zac Posen collaboration. After Liberty of London's urgent pop-up shop pack up before its ending date, Target will be deeming Posen's 24-hour preview as a "shopping party." Aren't there enough parties in fashion already? The pop-up shop will begin April 15th at 11pm, but we expect the line formations to begin at 8pm or earlier for tuxedo-seeking shoppers. Can't make it? Well, too bad. But, if you want the shopping party leftovers, the full collection will be available April 25th in stores.
You know that moment on Gossip Girl when Jenny Humphrey and her friends stormed a charity event and took it over with a fashion show? If you watch Gossip Girl and if you saw this episode, you probably turned to your girlfriends, who were sitting on the couch next to you, and said, "Yeah right, like that would happen." I'm here to tell you it does happen....in the form of LA Fashion Week. It's a far cry from New York City's Bryant Park Fashion Week where the show is the clothes and not the party.
Fashion Week in LA begs the question, is Los Angeles just not that fashion forward?
The New York–based Council of Fashion Designers of America has announced the induction of 31 new members. Among the inductees this year are several California and New York based designers, including Marcella and Johan Lindeberg of Justin Timberlake’s line William Rast, Koi Suwannagate of Paris 68, whose intricate line earned her a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination last year. Also among the inductees include Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, whose The Row and Elizabeth & James collections are based in New York and Los Angeles. Others include Alexander Wang, Chris Benz, Christina and Swaim Hutson, formerly of Obedient Sons and Daughters, Jenna Lyons of J. Crew and Jason Wu.
