In an industry dominated by male DJs, it’s easy for the female EDM fanbase to feel, well, a bit disconnected. Of course, we love our filthy Rusko dubstep, our booming Avicii anthems, our housey Armin Van Buuren dance tracks. But we all grew up on the same Britney Spears bubblegum pop music, and all share the same guilty pleasure of blasting Baby One More Time while belting out our favorite powergal’s lyrics into a hairbrush. So what’s a girl to do when she craves girly lyrics but has grown out of mundane mainstream beats? Thankfully, a few forward-thinking producers have heard our prayers for songs that incorporate sassy lyrics and electronic melodies, producing a genre all its own dubbed girl fire.
ELLE held their 3rd annual Women in Music celebration at the Avalon in Hollywood last night. Among the attendees were Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Amy from “Karmin,” and Nicole Scherzinger. However, the one celeb who turned the most heads was ex-Pussycat Doll and now solo artist Melody Thornton!
Thornton stepped out in a completely sheer beige dress that left NOTHING to the imagination! Melody did an excellent job of stealing the spotlight from the other beautiful women on the red carpet, but the former 'Doll' should have left the Pussycat in the bag.
