KATIE LEE
Cheap tacos. Free jeans. And a soda.
The lastest food truck launched by the Gap, appropriately named, "Pico de Gap", is a little bizarre, but note-worthy nonetheless. As a means to promote their 1969 denim collection, the Gap has teamed up with several big name celebrity chefs such as Ryan Scott and Marcel Vigneron (of Top Chef fame), Katie Lee (of Billy Joel fame), and Rick Gresh to create an outside-the-box dining-promotion hybrid.
Two signature recipe tacos (crafted by each respective chef) and a drink will cost you just $1.69. If you can show proof of a same-day Gap purchase, your food is free. Twenty dollar coupons off the denim collection will be given out with every order and some lucky winners will even score a free pair of jeans. Win. Win. Win.
Life isn't just about Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone on vacation. There are actually other people and things going on in fashion - believe it or not. For instance, the stud muffin Yigal Azrouel going surfing in Costa Rica - hmm, I wonder if he's still cheating with Billy Joel's ex-wife? Or, the ever so delightful Behnaz Sarafpour, taking on India and elephant rides with primary colored cloths. Whatever satisfaction the warmer climates bring our creative souls on holiday, we hope they bring us even warmer collections for fashion week - to put it simply, it's cold in this city of dreams.
MObama Shows Off - Amusingly, the First Lady became au fait with an overabundance of American Designers - distinctively, Jason Wu for the Inaugural Ball and the cover of Vogue. Work girlfriend!
Oliver vs. Nina Ricci - Following a season of hypothesized buzz, Nina Ricci and designer, Oliver Theyskens, divided. This left Theyskens out of a job and Nina Ricci to, well, Peter Dundas.
Fashion Week Packs Up - Mayor Bloomberg declared the ending of girls walking the Bryant Park pavements in their Nicolas Kirkwoods, with a fresh start beginning at Lincoln Center next fall. Boo!
