LADY GAGA
On March 17th Roosevelt Field Mall shoppers felt the craze of Kellan Lutz as the Twilight Saga heartthrob joined Danny Guez- Abbot + Main co-designer and Founder of Dylan George- at Bloomingdale’s to celebrate the introduction of Dylan George and Abbot + Main’s Spring 2012 collections. Though only created 4 years ago, the L.A.- inspired luxury men’s and women’s wear designs have made their mark with celebrity clientele such as Anne Hathaway, Nicole Richie, Ryan Phillippe, and even style extraordinaire, Lady Gaga, making it the perfect addition to the high-end duds Bloomingdale’s offers.
You are invited to have a front row seat Wednesday, February 29th for the launch of Lady Gaga’s “Born this Way Foundation.” The show airs from the BTW website from 4pm-5:30pm.

Swearer and actor/host and LGBT parent and spouse David Burtka as well as a crowd of policy makers, non-profit organizations, foundation leaders, students and youth at the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Askwith Forum. Seems like the troubled new spot, Ludlow Manor, just can't catch a break. Last Wednesday, the owners faced a hearing before the State Liquor Authority following the Community Board 3 complaints of “multiple misrepresentations” by the owners, which include Georgie Seville and allegedly Lady Gaga's ex Luc Carl. According to Blackbook, a $10,000 fine was assessed.
Ludlow Manor was approved for a ground-floor liquor permit last fall. However, they did not receive a permit for the second or third floors (though rumors are they were serving liquor illegally on both floors, leading to complaints by CB3.) Another curveball was thrown in court when the club's attorney said Carl was not actually an owner, and anyone claiming such was “making an erroneous statement.”
Imagine Lady Gaga giving Santa’s workshop a little makeover. Well people, she did just that. Barneys New York presents Gaga’s Workshop, where traditional red and green have been replaced with glitz and glam and Gaga-licious colors, dolls have transformed into monsters, and chestnuts have become a thing of the past. Nowadays, kids are noshing on a $95 chocolate Gaga shoe that resembles those infamous Alexander McQueens. Yes, this may seem a little over-the-top and perhaps a bit excessive, but with 25% of sales going towards the anti-bullying Born This Way Foundation, it’s quite obvious who has been touched with the holiday spirit.
November. The month of designated family time, frantic cooking, and ample preparation. Which is why whether the last week of November (in all its T-day glory) is filled with family fun or mama drama, we know you’ll be jonesing for something, anything to de-stress before the big day. And what better way to take a break than to attend a couple of parties, comedy shows, and a Lady GaGa book signing, all planned to perfection for your entertainment and relaxation. Here’s your top picks for this week:
Monday November 21st
On Friday night Ludlow Manor had its official opening party in New York's Lower East Side. The three story club is owned by Georgie Seville (The Delancey) and Luc Carl, a former bartender, also known as Lady Gaga's ex boyfriend. While the venue was plagued by some Community Board drama involving noise and crowd control, Carl and Seville prevailed and the new spot threw their rock 'n roll and mermaid-themed opening party.
The multi-plex is 12,000 square feet, with 20 foot ceilings, real palm trees, a retractable roof, revolving DJs, and has "one of the best rooftops downtown." The crowd "definitely had a rock 'n roll and hipster vibe." Well, duh.
Add Lady Gaga to the growing list of philanthropists and saintly celebs that have used their known names to good use.
This Wednesday, the pop superstar made the announcement that she is launching the Born This Way Foundation.
After the suicide of 14-year-old superfan Jamey Rodemeyer, a devastated Gaga vowed to join the fight to constitute bullying as illegal. She sadly tweeted: "The past days I've spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger...It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someones life....Bullying must become illegal. It is a hate crime. I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end."
As usual, Beyoncé continues her Thanksgiving holiday domination tradition with the release of a concert DVD. According to Beyoncé Online, a filming of her 4 Intimate Nights at the Roseland Ballroom, held in NYC this past summer, will be released on November 21. This is the fourth year in a row that the pop diva has released a live concert DVD during the Thanksgiving Holiday. She started back in 2007, when she released the well-received Beyoncé Experience DVD which catapulted her into mega-stardom and entertainment royalty. One thing is for sure: she’s smart. If she stays true to tradition, then there will be MTV, VH1, and ABC Thanksgiving specials during the weak of it’s release.
The pop superstar doesn't seem to be showing any signs of stopping.
On Monday, October 10th, Lady Gaga was in Harlem to begin production on the music video for her latest single "Marry the Night". The pop superstar was seen donning a black leather capri jumpsuit, light blue lipstick, and a newly short haircut - visually unfazed by the crappy weather - while filming a dance number.
The rest of the music video's setting involves extras glammed up in all sorts of crazy outfits: some were ballerinas, some were covered in leopard prints, and some were even dressed down in bandages and hospital gowns! Another little tidbit about the video shoot involved scenes of Lady Gaga in a bathtub and also a little girl strapped to a table. Huh?? Crazy lady.
Listen. We love culture as much as the next guy. The editors here at Joonbug enjoy rolling out of bed at noon on a Saturday (or one, or two) and heading to our favorite fine art institution. But we are not about to waste our hard-earned weekends on New York tourist traps. And as it turns out, staring at paintings is a favorite activity of the Times Square-loving, Ray's Famous Pizza-eating, crisp white tennis shoe-wearing museumgoers...so the MoMA and Guggenheim will have to wait. Rather than shelling out to bump shoulders with a stroller-toting family of four, consider some of these exhibits that have been happily forgotten by the fannypack crowd:
