A departure from the dark, savage beauty that is classic Alexander McQueen, the Fall 2012 collection embodies qualities Sarah Burton describes as "a beautiful future, positivity, optimism." Fanciful and undeniable works of art, the collection was designed to bloom or “explode” as the presentation progressed, in volume as well as hue ranging from chaste white and blush to rich reds and black. The first flouncing dresses featured gathered skirts with hemlines hitting above the knee and fluffy fur caplets. Decorated with tiny floral blooms, the cherry blossom frocks then gave way to a graphic black and white design created by laser-cut ponyskin on leather. Finally, the collection exploded into billowing ensembles of shaggy goat fur, ostrich feather, or Mongolian lamb weightlessly floating down the runway in cocktail, tea, and full-length gowns. Amidst the feathers and fur there were sheer confections of layered chiffon covered with countless godets creating floating “dandelions” waiting to be whisked away by the slightest breeze. Futuristic visors and architectural, brushed metallic belts served as weighted accessories to the airy collection. We also saw McQueen’s signature heel-less shoes, detailed at the ankle with the same whimsical furs. The usual dark romanticism may not have been present in this season’s offerings, but they most certainly reignited the flame of our Alexander McQueen love affair.
Can you believe there was once a time without the internet, Twitter, and Facebook? One has to wonder, how in the world did we manage to communicate effectively before the internet and cell phones? What advances we've made, and last night was a stark reminder of how far we've come. The 3rd Annual Fashion 2.0 Awards honored the technological leaps and bounds throughout the fashion industry. From great blogs, to great Facebook pages, to great websites; fashion lovers, techies, designers, and more came out to celebrate fashion online.
No matter the occasion, red carpets, celebrities, and paparazzi never fails to bring us fabulous fashion we can revel in for days! The evening captured a theme of "classic elegance," says Nicole Richie, celebrity mentor on the upcoming series Fashion Star and famous boho beauty. Shining, shimmering, and showing some skin our favorite Hollywood bombshells lit up the event. Here are our nominees for Unparalleled Style in Best Golden Globe Fashion.
Lea Michele looked fabulous in this silver and sheer Marchesa gown. All of that choreographed dancing and singing has completely paid off in the form of an amazing body! To offset the elaborately embroidered design, Lea kept it simple with a classic updo, understated makeup (smokey eye, nude lip), and a bright emerald green cocktail ring.
Lanvin decided to take a less serious route for Fall 2011-12 and the result is quite charming. In their video released today, models dance rather awkwardly to Pitbull's 'You Know You Want Me' and we absolutely love it! So they may not have any rhythm, but it's entertaining nonetheless.
It's about time high fashion folk stopped taking themselves so seriously all the time. I mean, as much as we love fashion, it's just fabric. Not brain surgery. Bravo, Lanvin! More, more!

We love polka dots! But how do we wear them without looking like we are channelling that famous polka dot fan, Minnie Mouse? The key is to keep your color palate simple: Red and white screams 'Disney' but black and white always oozes sophistication. If you want 'stand out' look no further than Marc Jacobs ladylike, knee length skirt. The polka dots are just a fraction of a shade lighter than that of the skirt's black base. But the piece refrains from being demure through the use of rubber, the skirts key material.
Or how about Gucci's long, chiffon, black and white polka dot dress? Completely transparent (short- like underwear required!) , the only nod to 'Minnie Mouse; is the large white bow which sits on top of the collar. For a less dramatic, cozy take on the trend try a dotty woolen piece. Lanvin works its luxe magic with a long length, fitted, muslin and wool cardigan. The sheer black spots against the dense wool of the fabric adds a detail which discretely whispers glamor....not a mouse in sight!
As red hot star Mila Kunis promotes her latest film opposite Justin Timberlake, Friends With Benefits, we all benefit by learning a little bit more about the celebrity's sense of fashion. From the ditzy girl next door Jackie in That '70s Show to a crazed ballerina in Black Swan, the Ukrainian beauty has been proving her versatility for a considerable amount of time for such a young talent. In the public eye since the early 90s, appearing in print ads and commercials for Mattel's Barbie, Guess girls and even a small role on popular soap opera Days of our Lives. In 1998, Mila Kunis was cast in Fox's That '70s Show, playing Jackie Burkhart at the young age of 14. Growing up on camera and behind the scenes as well, Kunis began to lend her vocal cords as the voice of Meg Griffin on Fox Broadcasting Company's Family Guy, a gig she still has 12 years later.
