A Farewell to Doc Watson's

Dr. Watson's Pub
216 South 11th Street
Philadelphia, PA
Closed February 2nd, 2010

It's hard to stomach the reality of legendary Philadelphia club Dr. Watson's Pub going belly-up. The famous second-floor stage hosted some incredible regional and national acts. The longstanding Philly establishment (since 1971) opened its doors for the last time on February 2nd, 2010. The no-cover finale featured Derek Sammack, Stephen Rose, DAPP, Mikey Potato, St. Alborne, and a final encore by Vince Volz and Clint Davis (formerly of Stillicide).

SCENETRACKER
Local Music Scene in AC

On the surface, Southern New Jersey is much like the brackish bays that cradle our coast. The weather is warm and inviting in the summer, but once winter comes everything freezes over. In reality, the locals are relaxing and enjoying the calm until the thaw arrives and, soon after, summer itself. So what is there to do in South Jersey in the winter besides haunt table games at any number of casinos? The answer is live music. To my dismay, my favorite bar and live music venue recently closed. The Pearl was my go-to place for good music and dinks, and since its unfortunate closing, I've been wondering where I can go to drink a beer and watch a band, on the cheap.

The Resolvers

Meshing different genres into their feel-good reggae vibes, The Resolvers have been satisfying South Florida’s live music lovers for the past three years. Keeping spectators on their dancing feet for hours on end, the quintet delivers a handful of original tunes, some familiar covers, and a spirit of harmony at every show.

The Resolvers mostly perform original material at their gigs. They are currently focused on a self-produced CD of songs they’ve written themselves entitled H’amsa. All of the work is done in-house at a studio/warehouse in Deerfield Beach. "We want to keep grass roots and build it one person at a time with a quality e-mail list. We plan on acquiring a strong fan base and get people to join our family,” explained electric guitarist and harmony vocalist Ron Eisner. "We like to spread ourselves out all around South Florida to different venues."
