LONG ISLAND
Head down to Warehouse5 in Island Park, Long Island on Thursday, May 23rd to support Sean Lives On. Headlining the event will be DJ Kap-Slap, who recently played sets at the Marquee in Las Vegas along with NYC's Webster Hall. Also playing sets will be Aylen, whose remix of Zedd's "Clarity" was critically acclaimed by Zedd himself and Nammo, a returning Sean Lives On supporter.
The big story on the New York Post today is that Long Island's 'Hotdog Hooker' Catherine Scalia is in hot water again for slinging more than Ballparks out of her camper. After doing a 4 year stint in jail from 2004 to 2008 for similar charges, the Hotdog Hooker is back in the slammer after an undercover cop caught her offering up off-menu wiener services.
It was only a matter of time before the shameless wiener wrangler was nabbed again as she did little to cover her tracks. Amongst her clearly guilty behavior, she handed out business cards titled "Strips-R-Us" offering "bachelor party" services, "stripteases," and "topless cleaning." She also previously posed for some ridic pics (inset), wieners in hand, chest out, with a mischievous smirk (inset).
In an industry where records have melted off store shelves and onto Mediafire pages, the live concert stands as the last line of musical art that can’t be stolen and leaked to the world. While albums are passed around digitally like a dance-able hot potato, no amount of internet lurking and mp3 swapping can defame the experience of the lights, sweat, and sounds of a show. Fortunately, Panic! At the Disco and their tourmates Patrick Stump and Foxy Shazam are well aware that they’re living on that last line, and all left everything they had on the stages of Long Island’s Paramount Theater.

Artists and writers have always been the cats and dogs of creative competition. The portrait or the pad, the pen or the paint.. Left and right brain powers have been warring for centuries. The first documented case of the riff detailed Renaissance sculptor, Donatello, when he teasingly pinned the equivalent of a"kick me" sign on author Leon Battista Alberti's cloak. It seems that ever since these two creative camps have fought for cerebral superiority. We students, patrons and stewards of the arts are reminded of this tension every year on a now-famous softball diamond in East Hampton, where the two ancient opponents bat off for reign of the Humanities.
It's been, roughly, eight years since Glassjaw, the post-hardcore band from Long Island who essentially paved the ground for post-hardcore bands and underground bands in general, released an album with all new material. On January 1st, 2011 Glassjaw released Our Color Green, a compliation of singles the band had written over the past few years. Although each single was released over the course of 2010, Our Color Green is a collection of them all, and marks the first time since 2002's Worship and Tribute that Glassjaw has released a new album.
Prior to the release of Our Color Green, it was hard to think that Glassjaw would ever release new material. Frontman, Daryl Palumbo spent time making music with his dance-punk band, Head Automatica, while also suffering from crohan's disease. The band went through many lineup changes and a long hiatus. Glassjaw was basically done...or so it seemed.
If you've ever dreamt of graduating from cooking for friends and family to tutelage under the, ahem, "watchful" eye of chef
Gordon Ramsay, then today is your lucky day. Ramsay is looking for a
select number of talented amateur chefs for the opportunity to become a
MasterChef!
Ramsay
will challenge and coach contestants to new culinary heights, but isn't
afraid to speak his mind. If you've got a thick skin and special
talents, this may be your chance to shine.
For those in the New York area, simply fill out the application at Fox.com/casting and make your way to Sur La Table in Manhasset this Sunday, January 10th, where they'll be holding auditions between noon and 5 pm. Don't forget to bring your best - judges will be expecting one prepared dish to be served at room temperature. You'll be given the opportunity to plate your dish there, but you are responsible for any utensils or other materials that you may need.
