LOUIS VUITTON
We love to wear white during the summer; it’s light, it’s easy, and it makes us look bronzed. Perhaps that’s why so many designers incorporated the colorless trend into their S/S 2012 collections. Here are some of our favorite looks from the runways and how to achieve them this summer.
A word of advice: make sure you have a Tide-To-Go pen with you when wearing these looks!

Louis Vuitton, one part of luxury conglomerate LVMH, is a brand synonymous with luxury luggage, handbags and clothing. Soon you can add fragrance to the list!
Earlier this month the company confirmed reports, first leaked back in October, that master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud has come on board to spearhead the project.
True to Louis Vuitton form, Cavallier-Belletrud has quite an outstanding pedigree.
Not only does the perfumer hail from award-winning Switzerland-based fragrance firm, Firmenich, the company responsible for many of the most recognized fragrances to date (as well as the people behind the Sephoria’s Sensorium project, but he himself is a third-generation perfumer. He is also the man behind such famous scents as Stella by Stella McCartney, L’Eau d’Issey and Dior Addict, just to name a couple!
This exciting venture will also mark the first time in nearly 100 years that the Louis Vuitton brand has independently released a fragrance. Now discontinued, three scents were previously released in the 1920’s and 1930’s, Heures d'Absence, Je tu il, and Eau du Voyage, the latter having been re-issued for brief stint in the 1980's.
For those you already poised to have the new fragrance on wishlists for the 2012 holiday season, take note: the company has not released an official launch date and has hinted that it may take quite a bit of time, as Cavallier-Belletrud is likely to travel the globe in search of the right ingredients. Further, he offered the statement, as reported by WWD: “...making perfume is a magnificent journey, which starts with the quality of the base ingredient."
As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait, and alas, it looks as though we’ll have to do just that!
We’ve spotted a very bright summer in our futures! Louis Vuitton is adding a new name to their revered roster of collaborators. Joining past favorites Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murakami is Yayoi Kusama. In what may have been the most enlightening and entertaining design collaboration yet, the 82-year-old Japanese artist is working with artistic director Marc Jacobs on a wide range of LV products including "leather goods, ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, watches and jewelry," according to WWD.
Known for her colorful and energetic polka dot installations, Kusama is another perfect pick from the contemporary art community Jacobs continues to tap for breakout designs. Marc Jacobs and Yayoi Kusama have more in common then you might think. We saw their shared passions in the clip below from 2007 documentary, Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton, when Jacobs visits Kusama in Japan.
Tonight in Hollywood is a charity auction like no other! New and gently used designer purses will be auctioned off to raise money for the Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind (TLC), an organization that serves babies and children who have visual and developmental disabilities.
These designer purses include Chanel, Prada, D&G, Fendi, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, and others. The event starts promptly at 8pm at The Colony in Hollywood, with Celebrity DJ Taryn Manning spinning tunes from 9-10.
There will also be an open bar hosted by Patriot vodka, Comisario tequlila, and Bossard cognac, along with gourmet catering by Patina, and sweet treats from Sweet E’s. Sponsors for this awesome evening include SBE, Bliss Spa, MAC cosmetics, OPI nailpolish, Wells Fargo and Popchips.
WWD has informed us that Marc Jacobs may be stepping in as Dior's new Creative Director; the position has remained un-filled since Galliano was sacked due to allegations that he may have made anti-semantic remarks.
Not only are we anxiously awaiting a confirmation on whether or not Jacobs will actually take the new position, but we are besides ourselves wondering if he will really leave Louis Vuitton?! If both questions are answered with a yes, that means that Phoebe Philo will be the first choice as Jacobs' replacement at LV. However, she will remain at Celine regardless if she takes the new position or not.
It was roughly 6 months ago that Kim Jones replaced Paul Helbers as the head of men’s design for Louis Vuitton, and his debut line proves just how wise of a change that was.
Kim Jones may not be a household name, but that is not to say he has not been around the block. At the young age of 32 Jones has already worked for a variety of companies including Uniqlo and Mulberry, as well as showing 8 collections for his own line since September of 2003.
But now it is time for bigger things. At the helm of the legendary fashion house Jones worked alongside Marc Jacobs, the artistic director, to create the Spring 2012 line, which represents the designers aesthetic while sticking to the ideals that have made the label so desirable.
Rain boots and the term "sexy" have never quite been synonymous. Sloshing around town in clunky, squeaky Hunter boots, sopping wet jeans and runny mascara is more like it.
Leave it to the eternal trendsetter, Louis Vuitton, to bestow upon us a chic alternative - the Fetish Rain Boots. Oh, and as a disclaimer, we do not recommend you type that phrase into a Google search engine.
Making their debut for this Fall/Winter season, the wellies put some sex appeal back into rainy days. We're obsessed particularly with the cream colored version shown in this snapshot by Alex White for WMagazine.com.
Sofia Coppola and Louis Vuitton have collaborated in the past, but their Resort 2012 collection is a dream wardrobe! This time around, not only did Coppola serve as the muse, but she was involved in every aspect of the design process -bringing her own vision and personal style to the collection.
When consulting on the designs, Sofia said ,"I told [Vuitton design director Julie De Libran] I want a new wardrobe.” And so that's what they gave her. All the designs are based on her favorite colors, shapes and fabrics. All the way down to the Eiffel Tower print which is a homage to her hometown of Paris.
Purse lovers may want to look away while art lovers lean in a little closer to check out these cool new works of art. Chameleon Visual, masters of merchandising, approached artist Billie Achilleos to make something new with quite a few of Louis Vuitton’s most popular bags. That is, they told her to tear them apart and construct 20 animals from the bag material.
