LUCKY MAGAZINE
Jane's personal fall fashion recommendation: Be bold this fall and embrace mixing bright colors. Wear our Gemstone Bracelet in Blue Lapis for a fun pop or color!
Located on the Lower East Side is The Dressing Room: a one-of-a-kind boutique that gives emerging designers a place to showcase their collections and provides shoppers with fresh, new styles. Creativity at its finest proves to be true as this stylish boutique is not only home to fashionable duds, but also contains a clothing exchange and a cocktail bar!
The Dressing Room launched in the summer of 2007, and has grown to be a lower Manhattan staple. The ground level features all of the newbies with clothing and accessory designers like Chromat, Peter Hidalgo, Wackerhaus, and Natalie Zwillinger. Shop around this level, or have a specialty cocktail at the bar. The ground floor also features a movie projector, free Internet access, shopping parties, and live DJs for special events.
The right accessories will definitely make your ensemble stand-out from the fashionable crowd; and many of us look to our favorite celebrities for style inspiration. A designer that's taking the jewelry scene by storm is Jane Basch. It was especially fabulous to see one of Jane’s special designs on Entertainment Tonite worn by the beautiful Samantha Harris! Jane’s designs have also been worn by ‘hot’ celebrities such as Christina Applegate, Ashley Tisdale, Demi Moore, Debra Messing and featured in many top fashion magazines such as Lucky! The wonderful aspect to Jane’s jewelry is that you need not be a celebrity to enjoy your very own custom-created Jane Basch jewelry piece because all of her collections are priced well with impeccable craftsmanship (or should I say crafts-womanship).

Lucky Magazine and the social shopping network ThisNext (imagine if Amazon and Twitter had a baby) launched their new co-branded Personal Style Guide project today. Accessible from both luckymag.com and ThisNext.com, the collaborative endeavor allows shoppers to create Personal Shopping Guides they can share with fellow Lucky Mag readers and ThisNext-ers, post on FaceBook, and Tweet for all to see. It's like a never-ending shopping spree!
Lucky and ThisNext have created the new Mecca of online shopping- one spot that houses the most stylish and fashionable products from every corner of the web. Creating a Personal Style Guide is a lot like creating the perfect playlist- infinite combination possibilities of every product imaginable to fit every mood, whim, and occasion. The PSG allows you to search products by category, keyword, store, brand, designer, URL, UPC code, or tags. For instance, searching Anthropologie + furniture + unique brings up an expansive amount of eclectic home furnishings and decor perfect for a "New York Apartment Makeover" Personal Style Guide.
H&M's style eye contest selected three girls that each have their own distinct fashion style and bought them together for a weekend in New York.
Legal assistant Jesse, pairs up a stunning flowery tube dress with a blazer for the work look. Financial recruiter Taylor, dresses in a simple cream dress and matches it with the now-in striped cardigan. Creative direct and stylist Lauren, accessorizes her dress with black leggings, spring scarf, black cardigan with a headpiece and the everyday brown messenger bag.
Look out for Lucky Magazine who will be showcasing their looks in their July issue.
Melisa Russo is founder and head stylist of Feather Report, an iPhone app and fashion blog that offer daily forecasts and style suggestions to women across the country. If you've ever checked the forecast and wished the weatherman would just tell you what to wear, Feather Report is for you. Launched in January 2009 to a New York City readership, featherreport.blogspot.com quickly grew to include a nationwide fan base. Realizing the potential for a weather-based fashion application, Melisa connected with Medl Mobile to discuss plans for an iPhone application that would take Feather Report to the next level. In September 2009, the Feather Report iPhone app, which delivers your daily weather forecast along with a customized outfit suggestion, was born. You can search for outfits based on your body type, weather, and occasion; shop items directly from your phone; and get forecasts for any city across the country. So, let's say you're a Curvy Cathy heading to Happy Hour and Baby, It's Cold Outside. Feather Report serves up five outfits that match your criteria. You'll even get an umbrella alert if the forecast calls for rain or snow. It's like a stylist in your pocket.
This Thursday, September 24th, marks the first ever Lucky Magazine Boutique Crawl. 24 stores located up and down Bleeker Street are participating in the event, ensuring a shopper’s paradise complete with discounts, drinks, snacks, and live music.
Lucky editors and stylists will be sprinkled throughout the shops for your convenience, ready to give tips and spread style, while photo shoots set up at Juicy Couture and Olive and Bette’s will be ready to spot style (i.e.: leave the sweatpants at home, it’s not that kind of shopping trip).
Get 30% at Steve by Steve Madden, 20% off 7 For All Mankind jeans, and 10% off Cynthia Rowley creations. On top of all the discounts being offered, Lucky Bucks can knock even more dollars off the price of those Juicy Couture boots. A Lucky Bucks coupon will save you $50 off your $200 Juicy bill and an extra $20 at Tommy Hilfiger.
Reiss will be offering 20% discounts, serving cocktails, and housing Lucky editors ready to style you. And that MZ Wallace bag you’ve been thinking about lately? Or maybe that LuLu Guinness snakeskin clutch? Both shops will be serving up champagne while offering 20% discounts throughout the store.
Shopping make you hungry? Stop by Bond No.9 for a 10% discount and Magnolia cupcakes, or head towards the Van Leeuwen Artisan ice cream truck for free ice cream. Shopping make you sleepy? Grab an energy cocktail at Verve, where accessories will be 15% off.
And if you need to make some room in your tiny NYC closet after all that shopping, stop by Housing Works thrift shop and donate your vintage designer pieces for a free gift.
Check out the map for a full listing of participating stores, as well as promotional details. The event runs from 6pm until 9pm and I recommend you get there as early as possible, for obvious reasons.
