This weekend, it’s all about eating across Manhattan. Not that all weekend’s aren’t but these next few days serve up the kick-off of New York Food and Wine, the last weekend of Madison Square Eats and the grand-opening of Jeepney Filipino Gastropub. Here’s the delish round-up.
New York City Food & Wine Festival
Tomorrow night, kicks off the fifth annual New York Food and Wine Festival. This foodie fest is all about eating and drinking for a fantastic cause, as a part of all event proceeds go toward initiatives to end hunger. Filling your belly with fine food and drink has never been so fun or forthgiving. Choose from a slew of epicurean-focused events, seminars and festivities from The Slanted Door Dinner hosted by Charles Phan to a Paula Deen Brunch. Juniper fans will delight in the Gin Revolution! seminar at The Vault at Pfaff’s while beer lovers can chug their lunch at the Beer Glass Tasting with Spiegelau & Captain Lawrence. Most of the Food Network star hosted events are sadly sold-out, but you can still get your starry fix at the Times Talks seminar with Bobby Flay & Giada De Laurentis. Happy wining & dining!
Fall is finally descending upon us and of course, New York is filled with diverse and fun occasions to enjoy. One hap you probabaly won't be able to dismiss is the fall series of Madison Square Eats. The food stands will take over the Worth Square Area just west of Madison Square Park (on 24th and 5th Avenue). Grab some toothsome bites from notable restaurants around the city which include Roberta's, Charlito's Cocina, Florish Baking Company, Bar Suzette and many more. The vendors will be serving food daily from 11am-9pm starting this Friday, Sept. 21st and running through Oct. 19th.
Spring markets are popping up all over the city now that the weather finally feels more like spring. Even the rain predicted for the rest of the week confirms that April showers were late this year but those May flowers will be here before we know it. Market places a great way to spend a weekend morning or a great idea for lunch where you’ll truly find something for everyone’s tastes. Shoppers can find an array of anything and everything at their local street market from vintage clothing to farm fresh produce and endless stalls of delicious foods.
