Paper Magazine Hosts CB2 Eastside Store Launch Party

What I thought would be a mild mannered event turned into a who's who of New York City, as old school, new school and Hollywood converged at the Paper Magazine CB2 eastside store launch. The October 25th event was to celebrate the opening of the CB2 Eastside Manhattan store. Instead of just throwing a party for the sake of the opening of a store, CB2 along with Paper Magazine in a charitable partnership with The New Design High School, gave students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with some of the most influential names in the New York street photography community.

Gary Spencer: Traversing Fashion Week

Hi Joonbuggers!

A quick welcome to my new weekly column (and that was it if you missed it) and now lets get down to business.

And business it was last week especially for all the stores that participated in Fashion's Night Out, but more of that in a minute, first I want to talk about the sharp end of fashion week, the shows. I kicked off this season by taking a strut down to West Broadway to check out the new collection from Prince Peter, that cheeky little character talent who seems always to hang with the hippest and best looking people on the planet. As usual his show was full of great looking things draped in his designs and the liquor was free-flowing and plentiful which was a result for me because I then got a chance to eat it off by going in to see my old mate Kevin, the Maitre D at Balthazar which was, needless to say, filled to the brim as usual .

And Our Oscar Choices Are....

Typically, seeing who wears what to the Oscars becomes so pretentious and somewhat repetitive once starlets seem to let their dreadful stylists take over their sad little lives. But, last night there were a few hidden gems on the red-carpet as follows:

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten: Divine! Wait, is this from the Fall 2010 bevy? Review the prints again, please!

Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel Couture: I'm still not too fond of SJP after her Halston stunt. However, her Chanel Spring 2010 Couture look for the Oscars was quite endearing. Fun Fact: She even wore the temporary Chanel tattoos to the event. Edgy much? Not so much for SJP (she's Carrie Bradshaw for goodness sakes), but she still gained a few fashion points from us.

Ray Ban Party at the Bowery Ballroom

Celebs showed up wearing their sunglasses, more specifically their Ray-Bans, at night for Ray-Ban’s launch of their revamped 1986 “Club Masters” sunglasses. The event was held at the Bowery Ballroom on Tuesday night and included a performance by indie fave, The Black Kids. Guests included Joshua Jackson, Kevin Bacon, Diane Kruger, Robert Buckley, Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Ed Westwick proving this is one party where it’s cool to wear your shades at night.
