Heidi Klum will be honored with the “TV personality of the year” award at the First Annual Fashion Media Awards. The event will take place tonight at Harlow restaurant starting at 6:30 pm. Many of the fashion elite are going to be there and although it is by invitation only, a live stream of the event will be provided by LookTV.
Heidi has been one of the judges of America’s Got Talent and has hosted several seasons of the television series Project Runway. It’s no surprise that she was chosen for an award and we’re all sure she’ll have great look for the red carpet. Other people who will also be receiving awards are Karlie Kloss, Jane Bruton, Emily Weiss, Stephen Gan and Joe Zee. Maybelline cosmetics will be sponsoring a “Born with It” award which will be given to an influential beauty editor. The host of the evening will be The Daily Front Row publication. They, and many others, are thrilled that tonight many fashion and beauty editors will be celebrated for all their crucial contributions.
Few bands have fabulous stakes as high as The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger's aka Goastt. The lead singer is John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s son, Sean, and his band-mate is his gorgeous girlfriend, the supermodel face for Maybelline, Charlotte Kemp Muhl. They have a devoted cult following among the hippest Brooklyn music sect, and their songs can be described as progressive rock, with an alternative edge that is in a style all their own—achingly fashionable songs that would make Sean’s famous parents proud.

Recently, we at Joonbug.com went on a little impromptu shopping excursion. With every shade and type of this and that out there, we wanted to know if all that extra stuff was necessary. Case and point: We stopped by Sephora on 34th street and Broadway. The place was a mad house. Per house, we were looking for the perfect foundation. Personally, I don’t wear a lot of make-up, but we wanted to know what was out there in the way of coverage and blending ability. Out of all the choices, NARS was the most successful.
Then the poorly beautified and heavily -applied and adorned face of one of the attendants came around to assist. Instead of genuinely trying to answer our questions, she proceeded to tell us all the other things we would need in order to make this product work and last longer. Which we later found out was not needed. So needless to say, we left empty handed.
The Spring 2011 runway shows depicted drama as fashion’s most notorious brands sent their model’s puckering their pouts down the runway. Bold hues ranging from pale oranges to burnt reds to electric pinks were seen on the lips of Chanel, Fendi, Gucci, DVF, and YSL’s models. Fashion is a form of communication so if you want to say something, wear an eye-catching lip. Here is one invaluable beauty tip-orange is an exceptional color that happens to look good on any skin tone, try YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture in Le Orange ($30) for a truly vivd look. For a softer lip, you can try Chanel’s Rouge Allure in Nude ($32). However, if you can not justify spending more than $10 for a lipstick, Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color in Coral Crush will work all the same ($4.99 at Target).
In Boston, this past Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday was Shecky.com's Girls Night Out (March 24-26). Sheckys.com classifies itself as "Fashion, Fun, and Beauty with the Girls"-- and their Girls' Night Out in Beantown was just that. We sat down with Claudia Chan, president and chief content officer of Shecky's, to discuss what attendees across the nation could expect from the event.
How did the idea of Girl's Night Out come about?
CC: Shecky's started off as a localized New York media company. Then we started doing female-targeted publications, which led to female events, and then we became more of a women's entertainment marketing company. Today, Shecky's is a leading women's lifestyle resource covering fashion, beauty and fun for girls. Girls Night Out is only one of our signature event series, but it's the key one that goes across sixteen cities.
