Recently, we at Joonbug.com went on a little impromptu shopping excursion. With every shade and type of this and that out there, we wanted to know if all that extra stuff was necessary. In Boston, this past Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday was Shecky.com's Girls Night Out (March 24-26). Sheckys.com classifies itself as "Fashion, Fun, and Beauty with the Girls"-- and their Girls' Night Out in Beantown was just that. We sat down with Claudia Chan, president and chief content officer of Shecky's, to discuss what attendees across the nation could expect from the event.
How did the idea of Girl's Night Out come about?
CC: Shecky's started off as a localized New York media company. Then we started doing female-targeted publications, which led to female events, and then we became more of a women's entertainment marketing company. Today, Shecky's is a leading women's lifestyle resource covering fashion, beauty and fun for girls. Girls Night Out is only one of our signature event series, but it's the key one that goes across sixteen cities.
Cosmetic company leader Maybelline in accordance with media giants IMG announced they are moving to a new location- Bryant Park. As previous sponsor MAC heads downtown to do fashion shows at New York’s Milk Studios, Maybelline will become the official cosmetic sponsor for IMG Fashion’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, confirmed the New York Times on Thursday.
The cosmetics company inked a two-year deal, which will begin at the showing of designers’ spring collections in September 2009 through the much anticipated fashion week’s transition to Damrosch Park at the Lincoln Center in September 2010. The deal is an incredible platform for growth in the fashion industry for the company whose models include industry names such as Adriana Lima, Christy Turlington, and Jessica White.
