It's hard to remember the days when flared jeans were our everyday staple. Skinny jeans have reigned supreme for the last 10 or so seasons, but as every fashionista knows, for every trend, there's always a counter trend. Enter, wide-leg jeans. They aren't new to the scene; we've seen celebrities rocking them for quite some time, but we've been mulling this trend over in our heads. Worn right, they do wonders to your body proportions, but pair it with the wrong shirt, the wrong shoes, the wrong rise, the wrong belt, and things could get ugly fast. We all remember what happened with Jessica Simpson a few years back, and really if she couldn't pull it off, then how in the name of all things trendy will we ever be able to? Should we just let this trend pass us by? Of course not. We still cringe every time we see the photos, but at least we can learn from her mistakes.
Mischa Barton has sure come a long way since her OC days. Rumors were she left the show to pursue an acting career and now years later with no acting jobs in sight she reevaluated her options. Mischa has now become a bridal model! On Tuesday, she was one of the models for Rosa Clara's 2011 bridal show in Barcelona. She didn't look like her usual mess and looked surprisingly well in the dress but I bet this isn't where she saw her career going.
Last Friday, the CW cancelled it's newest drama "The Beautiful Life" after only two episodes. The show, starring Mischa Barton, Sara Paxton, and Elle Macpherson, recevieved low ratings. Although the show was produced by Ashton Kutcher, it only premiered with approximately 1.5 million viewers and lost about 60 percent of the audience the following week, to "America's Next Top Model." For now, The CW plans on filling the vacant timeslot with re-runs of the new "Melrose Place."
The Beautiful Life, an up and coming CW show, is already making fashion waves. The show stars Mischa Barton, Sara Paxton and newcomer Ashley Madekwe who is best known for her role as the client stealing call girl Bambi on Showtime’s Secret Diary of a Call Girl. The Beauiful Life chronicles the rise and fall of a group of models living and working in New York City. This show is said to be the preset for fashion lovers across America; although the pilot has yet to be be seen, the buzz surrounding the show is tremendous, not only because of it's wild stars, but also because of the fashion. Costume designer Tom Broecker made sure that he used the most fashion forward designers when dressing the actors. Pieces from the Phillip Lim, Rebecca Taylor, Roberto Cavalli, Balmain and Zac Posen (just to name a few) collections are being used to style the character as true New York fashion models. Is Tom Broecker the new Patrica Field? Will he make The Beauiful Life a cult classic in the fashion industry? We will have to just wait and see, The Beautiful Life premieres Wednesday, September 16th. Will you be watching? - I will.
Wednesday afternoon, Mischa Barton called police because she was suffering from a health problem. A patrol car escorted her out of her home, to avoid exposure to the media, and brought her to an undisclosed location. She is currently being assisted with her issue and is seeking medical attention.
No one was arrested and the paramedics were not involved. Confidentiality prevents the media in knowing exactly what Barton was suffering from. Apparently, Mischa will miss the Thursday night premiere of her movie Homecoming. In the film, she stars as a corrupt Homecoming Queen... awesome. This is supposedly one of her better played roles. As of now she is not able to travel and no further investigations have been reported except that she is “okay and resting.”
Mischa Barton, like former O.C. costar Rachel Bilson, is known as much for her fashion Do’s and Don’ts as she is for acting. Now she’s making a profit off her street style by developing a headband collection.
“Accessorizing is oddly my favorite part of dressing up,” she told People Mag. “I’ve been working in the likes of India, Milan, Paris, London, Montreal, L.A., and NYC. Mischa Barton, gaunt O.C. star, has glammed it up in a recent photo shoot at the newly renovated Sunset Marquis Hotel.
In an effort to stay in the news without being pregnant or engaged in illicit activity, Barton chose the high road and went the fashion route, taking glamour shots around the hotel and its accompanying villas. Barton looked appropriately mysterious in the shoot while sporting items from Gucci, Halston, Swarovski, and a colorful futuristic body suit by Emilio Pucci.
With her bohemian chic style, Mischa Barton has always been a leader in fashion. If you’ll remember, she was the face of Keds not long ago, and now the basic canvas shoes are selling for $30 and up at upscale department stores. Now, according to WWD, the O.C. star will be directing her talents toward a new line of headbands for the handbag and jewelry designer Stacey Lapidus. Apparently, Lapidus was inspired to collaborate with Barton earlier this year when she spotted photographs of the actress wearing a headband across her forehead (even though we spotted photographs of Misshapes regulars wearing them since last year).
Star magazine reports that Mischa Barton is in talks to replace Lindsay Lohan on ABC’s Ugly Betty. La Lohan was supposedly written out of the series early after a feud with fellow actress America Ferrera. We’re glad we didn’t have to see all those haute fashions ripped to shreds in a nasty cat fight!
Miss Mischa should be more than open to taking the gig. Her latest accomplishment was winning the top spot on Mr. Skin’s 2008 list of best celebrity nude scenes for her supporting role Closing the Ring. This O.C. star is long overdue for her small screen return. With any luck, Mischa will be back in our homes this spring in new episodes of Ugly Betty.
