NERVO
Can you tell us about some of the parties/venues that shaped you as an artist and a performer?
Diego Camejo: The first venue I started DJing at consistently was Mokai. Being the resident here has taught me so much. Because it is a small boutique club, it is naturally a very intimate setting. It is a venue where people are not necessarily going to focus on the DJs performance; they’re their to have a good time, which makes it more difficult as a DJ to craft a set that gets people’s attention.
In a scene flooded with many young people who aspire to be the next Avicii or Dirty South, it is sometimes hard for those who are truly talented to stand out. When referring to the prodigy-esque DJ/producer Stereoshock, his productions have helped him become impossible to ignore. Only the tender age of 19, the young NYC local has been turning heads throughout the industry and it is very clear that he has no plans of stopping.
Miami seems to be hotter than a typical summer day this month. As the biggest holiday is now days away, there's no doubt that bubbly will be flowing as revelers countdown to midnight and celebrate into the early morning hours of 2013. If that's not appealing enough, the hottest hotels house some of Miami's most exclusive and A-list nightclubs, who in true MIA fashion, are bringing in top notch DJ talent to shake things up on December 31! Read our round up below and for more information on hot and happening parties visit here.
Norman Doray has been on a wild ride these past few months. Coming off his huge North American tour in June, Norman jumped right into promoting his summer hit “Celsius,” and played around the globe including dates in Ibiza and alongside Thomas Gold on Governors Island in NYC. With no intention of slowing down, Norman continues to kill it introducing a new collaboration with the Nervo twins and diva vocalist Cookie called “Something To Believe In.” The track is fit perfectly for the dancefloor.
First premiered on MTV Clubland, the video chronicles the typical club night as the spinsters take to the streets of New York. The day session finds them out partying at Neptunes Beach Club in the Hamptons for a seaside afternoon gig before jetting down island for a late night house session at Pacha.
The fall North America tour kicks off October 10 in Boston and sees shows out west and down south. Watch the vid below and check out the tour dates. For more information visit Norman Doray's Facebook page.
When it comes to festivals, Tomorrowland is king. The Belgian summer festival is famous for its fairytale-designed venue and cream of the crop lineup. Almost reminiscent of an Alice in Wonderland trip, attendees enjoy exploring the larger-than-life mushroom fields, stages with massive sun-and-moon backdrops, and the bounds of sensory-overload wonders Tomorrowland offers.
And such an extraordinary festival deserves an extraordinary theme song. Last year, Belgian brothers Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike produced Tomorrowland’s anthem “The Way We See The World,” with the help of Afrojack and Nervo. This year, the brothers are back to create a track that rivals Tomorrowland’s whimsical aura - yielding “Tomorrow Changed Today” as the culmination of their musical efforts. This progressive house ear-candy ebbs and flows into punchy chords and uplifting synths.
Ten miles of darkness and 2000 cars separated us from the festival we had only dreamt about. As we stared forward, excited and anxious, there was a faint flicker towards the sky and then the familiar explosion of fireworks in the distance. A roar ripped through the desert from the cars around us. Indian chiefs and their topless girlfriends yelled and cheered out their windows, as packs of neon spattered fur boots ran by on foot. This was the scene I had heard so much about. The one that would save dance music events
Insomniac’s Electric Daisy Carnival has consistently been remarked as the premier Electronic Music festival in the country. With steady competition from Ultra Music Festival , and the multitude of other events that have developed in the past few years, claiming that title is quite a feat. Insomniac’s founder, Pasquale Rotella, has rose through the ranks of California promoters to a point of utmost success. He has absolutely earned his stripes, with the immense scale of his events and consequences this sometimes brings. The risk involved with such massive gatherings as these has made it necessary for Pasquale to impose a new standard for safety at these events, both at the gates and in the festival. In both appearance and functionality, EDC proved to be nothing less than the world-class event that was beckoned for.
