For me, fashion is feeling confident in who I am and what I'm wearing.
Anyone who's been to Fashion Week knows that it's not all fun and games. There's the marathon running from venue to venue to catch all the shows on your agenda, hours upon hours of waiting in line in six-inch heels (our calves are still sore) and all the late-night partying which leaves our skin tired and dull-looking. Luckily for us fashionistas there is Beauty Bar presented by The Daily. Stylists, makeup artists and manicurists rolled out the red carpet last Tuesday and Wednesday to pamper guests with ultimate VIP treatments. Think facials and massages courtesy of Townhouse Spa, makeup touch-ups by beautyADDICTS, hair treatments with Paul Mitchell products and even fitness consultations courtesy of Equinox (you know, to stretch out those calves).
The official start of New York Fashion week is literally hours away. Here, at Joonbug, we're prepared and excited to tackle the shows and events. We'll be reporting on fashion and beauty trends and give you some exclusive backstage coverage of some of the shows. Here are a few collections we're looking forward to seeing.
-Nicholas K - The inspiration for the Fall 2011 collection is the forest and rustic living.
-Luca Luca - The use of suede, leather and lace will be a big part of the show.
-Mara Hoffman - Tribal, dramatic and bold describe the fall look.
-Tadashi Shoji - Ancient moss gardens of the Far East serve as inspiration for this designer.

There's no doubt that the fall and winter weather summons some of the best fashions back into the splotlight every year. Who doesn't love a great pair of riding boots, classic wool peacoat, or even those outfit-perfecting scarves? In terms of hair, however, the chilly weather can often leave us thinking we may have actually had it good with all that summer humidity.
Because arguably, rain and wind are the even bigger obstacles standing in the way of a seamless hair day during the more dismal months. There's nothing worse then taking the time to polish your 'do only to have it look like you just rolled out of bed again by the time you make it into work. And we all know the effects of a bad hair day can extend well past morning. Luckily, there are a few simple, speedy, and super cute hairstyles that can help you circumvent this dilemma all winter long. Each will save you time and frustration whether you're headed for work or play, and can even be dressed up for a night out.
With a questionable economy leaving a slew of stores hanging on by a thread, continued communication with target shoppers has been the name of the game for new and old designers alike this season. There's still a good 18 days until the Lanvin for H&M line hits U.S. stores (yes, we're counting), but the partnership has employed a series of methodical teases to keep those pretty Parisian chic party dresses on our mind.
And kudos to Creative Director Alber Elbaz, because it's working. Photos released last week (displayed in the slideshow below), and now a newly released Youtube video (also below) featuring the full fashions, have us ready to skimp on lunch for the next few weeks, just to have some extra cash in our I <3 Lanvin <3 H&M fund.

We're getting down to the wire as far as costumes go. Coming up with a creative costume always seems to pose a problem, and if you're a master ihe art of procrastination like me then you're still not sure what you're going to dress up as. Take a page from your favorite tabloids and go dressed as a tabloid celebrity! Better yet, dress up as one of the tabloid scandals of the past year!
1. Elin & Tiger Woods: One of the biggest scandals to rock the tabloids this past year, these two should be an easy couple costume to put together, and you probably could do it without purchasing a single item! For Elin, either temporarily dye your hair light blonde (or buy a wig), wear a white polo shirt, white cap, white khakis and carry around a golf club with a mean expression on your face. Have your man dress in a red polo, black khakis, a red Nike cap and slap a bandage on his head, with a little blood trickling down it for good measure. Mean-spirited? Maybe. But I'm sure you and your man will get a ton of laughs.
Making your costume this year will obviously preserve those precious funds in your bank account, but it is also easier on our dear Mother Nature. If you don’t have the creative drive, patience or time to tackle that old linen closet then there are a few options for purchase that will both be easy on your budget and our precious planet. Take a gander at these ideas and see if any of them tickle your fancy:
The bedbug epidemic plaguing Midtown Manhattan after one of the hottest summers on record has now hit the offices of fashion magazine Elle. On the 44th floor of its 50th and Broadway office building, Elle editorial staff have been ordered to work from home as New York Fashion Week draws near coinciding with the release of the industry's largest selling cover, the September issue.
