The National Football League has filed a lawsuit against singer M.I.A. for $1.5 million after she raised her middle finger, and it was caught on camera, during the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show. The NFL stated in their lawsuit that the singer intentionally breached her contract and made the league look bad.
The singer released a YouTube video responding to the lawsuit. In the video, M.I.A. stated that she finds the way in which cheerleaders were dancing in the background to be more offensive than what she did. “They were under 16. If you look at them they’re wearing cheerleader outfits, hips thrusting in the air, legs wide open…in a very sexually provocative position,” M.I.A. stated in the video.
Bruno Mars has been chosen as the 2014 Super Bowl halftime performer. Mars made the official announcement on September 8 when he appeared on Fox NFL Sunday. He shared his excitement via Twitter by writing, “WE’RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!”
Mars has been on tour promoting his second album, Unorthodox Jukebox, on his Moonshine Jungle Tour. He recently also won Best Male Video for his song Locked Out of Heaven at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
If you care at all about Fantasy Football season approaching, then you probably don't need us to remind you. And if you don't need us to remind you, Fantasy Football's approach is probably a very big deal. Fantasy Football is a uniquely American past-time that has exploded into a world-wide phenomenon. Every year, men (and women?) gather around and assemble a game where the stakes can often be more severe than Peyton Manning taking a forearm to the neck. By dividing real-life players and keeping track of real-time events, Fantasy Football also allows fans to interact with their favorite sport rather intimately (running onto the field also counts, that is if you don't mind getting tackled by a 300-pound linebacker).

Of all the things Detriot Lions fans have to be thankful for (A 6-2 record, an inspiring head coach, the best wide receiver in football), being graced by the bro-rock of Canada's Nickelback on their annual Thanksgiving showdown is not one of them. Lions faithful are repulsed, in fact. When your team escapes being the running joke of the NFL after essentially decades, you deserve a little something better, right?
As if dipped in black licorice, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground of interest with Pittsburg rapper Wiz Khalifa...You either love him, or loathe him. All feelings aside, the overnight success and monopolization of Khalifa's music on radio airwaves is undeniable. With his NFL playoff inspired single "Black and Yellow" in his rear view; the baggy clothes wearing, blonde hair totting, Zig-Zag rolling rapper is setting his sights on new ventures. Including, but not limited to, a serious relationship with is newly acquired girlfriend, creation of his upcoming album, touring of his latest album; and locating of the mystical fountain of career longevity, that few artists have had the privilege of soaking their feet in. Khalifa took some time out of his busy schedule to let me pick his brain, and question his motives.
If you saved some dough by NOT blowing it on this year's absurdly expensive Super Bowl XLV tickets, you can still show your support by participating in The NFL Charities Super Bowl Celebrity Bowling Classics Wednesday and/or Thursday nights. Bowlers will be divided into teams of four, each headed by a "celebrity" captain - typically current and former NFL players and Pro-Football Hall of Famers.
Though a bit pricey (two games require a $300 donation per bowler or a $500 donation per bowling couple) where else are you going to be able to show off those stellar (or mediocre...) bowling skills in front of famed pro-athletes? Participants will leave with a Super Bowl XLV bowling ball, a commemorative pin, a gift bag, and that warm feeling knowing that you could be helping the next Payton Manning get where he needs to be. And, if you're that good, maybe even the satisfaction of beating a Cowboy (or member of another favorite team) in a sport he's not a pro at...just saying.
The NFL Films Entertainment production America's Game has announced that Brad Pitt will be the narrator for this year's documentary on the New Orleans Saints' win in Super Bowl XLIV. The narration for the documentary suits Pitt because of all the work he has put into the city since Hurricane Katrina hit.
Pitt took on the responsibility in helping to build houses in the lower ninth ward after witnessing the levees break with the rest of America. His ambition in making new homes for residents became a reality with the creation of his Make It Right foundation and his pink house exhibit. His contributions continue even after Katrina's recent fifth year anniversary.
The New Orleans Saints' film will debut on the NFL Network on September 8.
Former NFL Running Back and The Today Show correspondent, Tiki Barber, has already hurt his reputation, but now it may have caught up to his career.
Last year, Barber admitted to his wife, Ginny, that he had an ongoing affair with Mount St. Mary College Student, Traci Lynn Johnson. Ginny, not having a clue about the extramarital relations, was shocked and even more crushed to discover that he was cheating on her not too long after having twins.
Many people cannot believe that Ginny was so oblivious to Tiki's actions. You can also say the same thing about Elin Woods. But, Tiki was a traveler and it shows that many things can happen on the road.
