NIKE
Nowadays, being unfashionable at the gym seems almost blasphemous given the rise of stylish workout gear. It seems our favorite workout-ready brands have stepped up, giving us apparel and accessories we can be proud to sport. Feeling great and getting fit go hand in hand, so there's no reason you can be styling while you sweat. In case you’re still living by the throw-anything-on-nobody-notices motto, allow us to show you the sartorial light. (Because we notice...we just do.)
Shoes
Nice Kicks first broke the story two days ago that Nike may be producing Marty McFly's famous footwear from Back to the Future 2. Teaser photos and videos were strategically released, hinting at something epic. Turns out we don't have to wait until 2015 for the NIKE MAG shoes after all, as they and their secrets were revealed yesterday.
Last week Michael J. Fox premiered the futuristic sneakers on the Late Show with David Letterman. It was announced earlier that day that 1,500 pairs of the shoes will be auctioned with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for funding research to fight Parkinson’s disease.
Wearing a beautiful gown to an event tends to be pretty magical. At least for the first hour or so before those stilettos you're wearing begin to kill your feet. What if you could wear sneakers (and actually be let in the party)? Heaven, right. Well it's time to prep those Nikes and start partying because on September 13th the SneakerBall gala requires you to wear sporty footwear. The event is organized by the Greater Washington Sports Alliance Foundation, a non-profit foundation which makes strategic investments in other non-profits which use sports to strengthen and improve children's lives. The money that is allocated to these non-profits comes from individual and corporate donors.
Gabriel Dishaw has constructed the very symbol of decadence out of recycled electronic waste, creating something beautiful. Over the years he’s constructed over 19 sculptures of shoes out of various discarded parts of electronic equipment. His art form, “junk art”, found its way to him in the 9th grade when a teacher listed it as one of the choices for potential projects. Since then, Dishaw has been consistently making sculptures from recycled parts.

Former NFL Running Back and The Today Show correspondent, Tiki Barber, has already hurt his reputation, but now it may have caught up to his career.
Last year, Barber admitted to his wife, Ginny, that he had an ongoing affair with Mount St. Mary College Student, Traci Lynn Johnson. Ginny, not having a clue about the extramarital relations, was shocked and even more crushed to discover that he was cheating on her not too long after having twins.
Many people cannot believe that Ginny was so oblivious to Tiki's actions. You can also say the same thing about Elin Woods. But, Tiki was a traveler and it shows that many things can happen on the road.
MObama Shows Off - Amusingly, the First Lady became au fait with an overabundance of American Designers - distinctively, Jason Wu for the Inaugural Ball and the cover of Vogue. Work girlfriend!
Oliver vs. Nina Ricci - Following a season of hypothesized buzz, Nina Ricci and designer, Oliver Theyskens, divided. This left Theyskens out of a job and Nina Ricci to, well, Peter Dundas.
Fashion Week Packs Up - Mayor Bloomberg declared the ending of girls walking the Bryant Park pavements in their Nicolas Kirkwoods, with a fresh start beginning at Lincoln Center next fall. Boo!
Vans Shoes has released two new styles of artist-inspired kicks featuring the alternative/indie band The Pixies. The custom shoes feature an image of a considerably younger Black Francis slumped dazedly on the floor under the phrase “Death to the Pixies.” In typical Vans fashion, the image is featured on two of the skate shoe manufacturer's classic styles; the laceless slip-on and the “Sk8-hi” hi-top.
Name: ANTHONY, 21
Occupation: Medical Student
What never goes out of style?
Denim and a regular, plain V-neck t-shirt. Some people may think it’s typical, but I think its classic. Throw a cardigan on top and you have another look.
Which decade produced the best fashion?
“The Great Gatsby” look of the 1920s – fitted, lean and straight forward.
What’s the new cool? What’s the new black?
All dressed up with sneakers is the new cool, and as for the new black, it’s layer upon layer. Just like my style.
Okay, so we know the second installment of the Transformers movie series was a big hit in the box office last weekend, but now sneakerheads and movie fans alike are in for a treat this summer. Nike has launched a Transformers II pack with its newest feature, the Nike Zoom Sharkalaid, inspired by the character of Soundwave. The colorways of navy and silver match those of Soundwave, and for those of you old enough to remember this cassette playing decepticon, the original Hasbro box housing the sneaker pack will surely dredge up a feeling of nostalgia. Nike seems to have a love affair with the Transformers franchise because it released its first pack in August of 2007, has a special transformer design for the Nike Dunk series, and has yet to finish inducting new sneakers into its most current pack (a Megatron inspired sneaker is said to be on the way). Like most exclusive things in the sneaker world there is a waiting period—The Transformer II pack is only available in Asia and the U.S. release dates have yet to be announced. Hopefully the autobots are out there saving the world just in time for you to snag a Transformers II pack for yourself.
