NOHO
The only thing better than a Friday after work is ending up somewhere with a solid drink special. The Astor Center isn’t usually the place you’d go for such needs (it caters mostly toward wine and cooking classes) but with the introduction of its new five dollar Fridays, it might have found a new niche.
One Friday a month, The Astor Center will be offering a selection of wines and snacks including odd combinations like champagne and potato chips for five bucks each. It’s a considerable step above the warm cans of PBR or diabetes-inducing shots at the dive bar down the street. Better yet the bottles are for sale downstairs at their very own wine store. Just don’t take your $5 too far!

The Noho Star was the first place that I have ever brunched in New York City upon moving here for college. Balancing on the butter knife's edge of curiosity and wide-eyed freshman utopia, I set out for Bleecker Street for lunch with an old high school friend who was visiting. I assured her that I was already completely familiar with all aspects of the city, but once we got off at the 6 line Bleecker stop, I became overwhelmed by the nonsensical grid of streets before me. Instead of losing my cool trying to find the place I originally had in mind, I pointed to the closest restaurant and claimed it as my intended destination for our afternoon dining excursion: The Noho Star.

One word to describe your style?
Wow, only one? It would have to be clean. Clean cut, cleanly tailored... just clean.
Who has had the most influence on your personal style?
A few Manhattan restaurants have recently announced that they will be expanding their hours. Boqueria, a Spanish restaurant with locations in SoHo and Flatiron have announced that they will now be open for lunch at their Flatiron location (55 W. 19th Street). They will be serving mostly salads, sandwiches and tapas. Lunch dishes include a Bocata de Pollo, a marinated chicken salad with celery root remoulade and endive on walnut raisin bread.
Mercat, a tapas lounge in NoHo at 45 Bond Street, has announced that they will now be open for lunch from noon until 3p.m. They will serve up mostly tapas as well as Spanish sandwiches.
Also announcing new hours is the Oak Room in the world famous Plaza Hotel. The Oak Room will be open for breakfast as of January 1st. The menu will include eggs and omelets, pancakes, waffles and smoked salmon.
