OSCAR DE LA RENTA
With her stunning green eyes, trademark full brows, and eclectic style, up-and-coming model Cara Delevingne is quickly becoming the one to watch. The younger sister of established model Poppy, Delevingne knows a thing or two about the fashion world.
In just three short years since being signed to Storm Models, she has appeared in numerous magazine editorials, walked the runway for brands such as Chanel, Stella McCartney, and Oscar de la Renta, and even landed the Burberry Prorsum campaign in 2011.
Fashion Week is the week to know what is going to be treading, or should we say trending, our way in the coming seasons. The runway is of course where we all study styles and figure out what trends to prepare for. However "street chic" is just as much a part of the week as the runways. Some of the best styles and inspirations can be found on the streets of New York and fashion week just happens to be the time when all of these trend setters are baited into one single place by their common hunger for fashion. This, my friends, is the perfect opportunity for those who can't get into the shows, to find fashion forward looks!
Neon clothing is a trend that comes around every season, whether it is Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter, but wearing it is not as easy as people seem to think. Bright colors can quickly go from a fun accent in an outfit to an overly loud ensemble. While sometimes multiple flashy tones can be fun it is usually the case that less is more.
So what exactly do we mean by “accents”? The right one can be hard to find, but when done correctly it can make your wardrobe pop in a good way. One example of this is the Oscar de la Renta pre-fall 2011 dress we all remember Gisele Bundchen wearing to the 39th AFI Lifetime Achievement awards honoring Morgan Freeman. The dress was dark, neutral and form fitting with a simple luminous pink belt strapped around the waist.
The Resort 2012 collections thus far are airy, relaxed and simple- the perfect combination for a calming summer... just add water!
Straight silhouettes combined with neutral color palettes, lightweight fabrics and sporadic splashes of colors, patterns and textures to escort us into the Resort 2012 season.
Let's take a look at what some of the Fashion Gods have come up with:
Oscar de la Renta's Resort 2012 collection uses simple outlines to compliment busy and intricate prints . The combination of simplicity and chaos creates a perfect balance.
The little black sash is making a big scene on fashion runways and red carpets as one of this season's must-have accessories! Add this accent piece to your wardrobe to bring new life to your outfits. Wear it neatly around you waist in a bow or let it hang to the side. Keep it short and sweet or have it long and loose. Wear it to a casual dinner date or a day outing. Whatever your fancy, the little black sash adds a classy, stylish touch. Designers such as Oscar de la Renta, DKNY, and Valentino have all used this accessory to adorn runway looks, and not only is this piece fashionable, it also has waist trimming effects.
The black sash is runway tested, fashion critic approved!

After clicking through pictures of New York Fashion Week’s new collections, Miami fashionistas might find themselves discouraged by the upcoming Fall trends. We love Oscar de la Renta, but who are we kidding? Fur gilets have no place in the 305. Don’t let that get you down, though. There are a ton of other trends perfect for our November weather. Miami isn’t as seasonless as you think.
Alongside the fur and heavy velvet were sheer dresses, cheerful colors, and too-loose silhouettes suitable for South Florida. Floaty tops and pants with extra leg room are just some of the wearable trends. Breezy skirts with Spring’s longer hemline appeared at Tracy Reese and Christian Siriano. These skirts are perfect for windy days when you don’t feel like battling the wind to keep your skirt down.
After years of absence from the glamorous world of fragrances, Oscar de la Renta is getting ready to re-enter- just in time for Mother’s Day! De la Renta is introducing a line extension, elegantly titled Esprit d'Oscar Eau de Parfum.
Esprit d'Oscar Eau will smell like lemon, bergamot, citron, jasmine, orange flower and tuberose. The scent will be available in 50 and 100 ml bottles, and will be priced from $78-$98.
The bottle (left) is a reinterpretation of the packaging of the original scent, which was launched in 1977. Esprit d'Oscar Eau de Parfum is also planned to be adapted into a body spray and scrub. Refusing to fade away, Oscar de la Renta has another fragrance in the works, set to be launched in September!
Hispanic fashion designer Oscar de la Renta will be showing his Spring 2011 line at a trunk show- tomorrow! The show will take place at Neiman Marcus at 150 Stockton Street at 10am to 6pm. When you arrive, go to the Couture Salon on the third floor, which is where the show will take place. There, you'll get a first look at the Spring 2011 collection that will hit stores within the next few months!
