Zac Posen's Pop-Up Shop: Clearly Target plans to take over the world - or at the least catch the consumers who love a zingy budget - with more NYC pop-up shops planned, the next being Go International's Zac Posen collaboration. After Liberty of London's urgent pop-up shop pack up before its ending date, Target will be deeming Posen's 24-hour preview as a "shopping party." Aren't there enough parties in fashion already? The pop-up shop will begin April 15th at 11pm, but we expect the line formations to begin at 8pm or earlier for tuxedo-seeking shoppers. Can't make it? Well, too bad. But, if you want the shopping party leftovers, the full collection will be available April 25th in stores.
Towards the closing of Paris Fashion Week (and the end of fashion month in general), things are looking a bit better, at the least. It's not entirely fabulous - but it's not entirely repetitive either.
Chanel: We're starting to realize that the craze about the Chanel shows is obviously the decor - who cares about the clothing anymore, right? Regardless of Karl Lagerfeld possibly going over budget on a real set iceberg and water delivered from Sweden and giving Baptiste his monthly sugar daddy payoff (we get it), the clothes were just like any other Chanel show. Except that Karl felt it would be funny to add a little humor - fur. As in faux fur. The entire bevy showed faux fur, with heavy thigh-high fur retaliation to Prada's Fall 2009 galoshes. Oops!
Fashion star, Phoebe Philo, is making her comeback after being out of the game for three years. Her first design for Celine will be introduced in June for the pre-spring and cruise seasons. In her first interview since taking over the creative helm of the brand for Louis Vuitton, she said, “[Celine] never stood for flashy fashion. It always felt like it was pretty sober, and that feels really relevant,” Philo then went on to say that, “It’s going to be more about a foundation for a wardrobe.”
Philo will be building her design team out of London where her family lives because that is where she feels more comfortable. She has also confirmed that she recently traveled to Tokyo to get some new ideas for the line. “I feel very strongly that we’ve got something very interesting to show,” she said. “I personally feel quite ambitious and excited about getting back into work and getting started.”
