Polaris Project: The Fight Against Global Enslavement of Women

Founded in 2002, the Polaris Project has been fighting to protect the rights of women and prevent enslavement worldwide. Over the past ten years, the Polaris Project has led the battle against human trafficking and forced prostitution of women, which is currently one of the most common and lucrative illegal industries globally. Women all across the world and right here in America are being forced into sex work as prostitutes and strippers. The problem is especially rampant in Detroit, Chicago and St. Paul. Polaris Project aims to end this ever-growing issue. Through policy advocacy, strategic campaigning, public outreach, and victim assistance programs, Polaris Project hopes to alleviate and bring awareness to human trafficking both nationally and throughout the world.
