PORTS 1961
The Ports 1961 show made me fall in love with the brand all over again. Sensuous shapes moved down the runway with luster and delicate detail. Dress after dress I kept picturing the possible celebrity photo-op moments to come.
Somebody call Rachel Zoe because a few of her clients would look incredible in these super elegant pieces. Check out our slideshow of celebrity matchups for these looks. Can't you just picture them in these pretty dresses at parties and events next spring?
Be waiting for our reports on these celebs at today's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Shows.

One of our stops last week was to Bloomingdale's uptown for a Vanity Fair/Ports 1961 soiree. By the time we arrived, the "special presentation" of Ports 1961's Spring/Summer collection had ended and nearly all the champagne had been downed by the guests - thank God that chocolate hors d'oeuvres remained to satisfy Joonbug staff latebirds.
Nevermind the New York blizzard! The good news is that we still have plenty of shows to look forward to, with or without everyone in tow.
Ports 1961 sent over a sneak peek sketch of what we can expect in their Fall 2010 presentation tomorrow - and we wish we were wearing such outerwear now, to stomp through the snow! Just for visual effects, of course.
Is this a hint of a return of voluminous tops and linear skinny bottoms as a trend for Fall 2010?
Perhaps.
According to head designer of Ports 1961, Tia Cibani, spring 2010 will be filled with earth tones and harmonious textures. Drawing color inspiration from the land and sea, Cibani translates nature through layering sheer fabric, drawing out vibrant shades and using bamboo shoots as balancing structures. The simplicity of the fabric enriched with the whimsical details of each piece helps to better understand Cibani’s intended vision for spring.
The Ports 1961 make-up palette was also inspired by nature; hues from oyster shells, cherries and clouds along with cool tones of dew and moss were all eloquently translated on the eyes, cheeks and lips of the models. Ballet flats in light as a feather organza and molded stingray pumps finished each look in the collection. Necklaces and bracelets made from a mixture of bamboo and silk were not only earthy and organic, but were also chic and futuristic.
