PORTUGAL
Portugal, perhaps most famous for Port and Madeira and the ever useful cork, which comes from the native cork oak tree, is actually one of the oldest, most storied wine growing countries in the world. In recent years there has been a resurgence in interest in the still wines of Portugal and a concerted effort to increase public awareness of the quality wines this country produces. One of the most prestigious growing regions in Portugal is the Tejo region. This area takes its name from the river Tagus, which flows through the Ribetejo Province and provides the region with its diversity in terroir and climate. There has been a total overhaul of the business model in this region and no longer are producers trying to make vast quantities for export; they are, instead, focusing on better farming practices, smaller yields, and less intervention in the wine making process.
Sean Paul is fresh from the One Love Peace Festival Summer tour that saw him through Portugal, Rome, Naples, Cape Verde, Germany, London, Bristol, South Cyprus, Canada and the non-stop party island of Ibiza. Not content to rest on his laurels, Sean Paul is set to begin touring in support of his fifth studio album, Tomahawk Technique, in December in the United States and across Europe.
Armed with a new look and energized passion for music, the past year has produced a creative outburst from Sean. This is seen through his emergence as a producer, in which he helmed the track "Roll Wid di Don." Also, working with artists like Cecile, Tami Chynn, Mr. Vega, and Wayne Marshall on his critically acclaimed Riddim album "Blaze Fia," and the follow up album "Material" has been matched by a stream of new music and collaborations with artists including Pitbull, T-Pain, Ludacris, Bob Sinclair, CongoRock, Mya and Kelly Rowland.
The 11th annual Camp Bisco Music and Arts Festival (July 12-14) announced their lineup today. With over 100 performers this year, the roster is packed with some of the biggest names in electronic music. In other words, get your tix before they sell out!

This past weekend Alfama introduced a special new Fall brunch menu, which will be served every Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm. Some of the scrumptious dishes include Alfama's signature burger and Francesinha--a traditional Portuguese steak sandwich. Check out the whole menu here.
Along with brunch, Alfama will be bringing back Fado, a soulful Portuguese musical art form. This Fall, the venue relocated and brought with it the debut of Fado Taverna at Alfama, which boasts a cozy nook beneath the restaurant that channels fado tavernas in Lisbon.
