Essential Tracks for Your New Year's Eve Mix

2012 is upon us. It may be our last year on Earth if we believe the Mayans (and that awful John Cusack movie), but that won’t put an end to the preparation, partying, and regretful resolutions that come with the turning of a new page on the calendar. Whether you plan on ordering pizza and watching Dick Clark with mom, or you want to hit the clubs and forget there was a 2011 altogether, here are some jams to have on your New Year’s Eve mix.

The-Dream Reveals '1977' Album Details

The American dream, radio- killa R&B King is preparing to drop his free album, 1977 on August 31st. This is his special preview present to us before he releases The Love, IV (Diary Of A Mad Man) album later this year.

1977 will be released under his real name, Terius Nash, not The-Dream. He’s said this is one of his most personal albums to date and after leaking a track from the album earlier this week, it sounds as if he’s been getting his been riding the Prince/Weeknd/Frank Ocean wave.

The-Dream has always been on another level when it comes to tapping into his crooning greatness and singing in a titillating falsetto. His first two albums were absolute panty-pleasers, not to mention the fact that the production was on-point as well. Only high expectations for both forthcoming albums.

Artists Set to Perform at the 2011 BET Awards

Lil Wayne will join Drake, Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, and Chris Brown as performers at the 2011 BET Awards, which airs live on the cable network on Sunday, June 26th at 8pm ET/PT.

It seems like Weezy's been in the rap game forever. He's been spitting his lyrical wisdom song after song, album after album, and the flames of this New Orleans Hot Boy are not going to die out anytime soon. Best rapper alive? Most would say yes. Even while serving time at New York City's Rikers Island jail complex, Weezy made chart history when his album I am Not Human debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200. He joined Tupac Shaukur (Me Against the World) as the only rapper to have a #1 album while incarcerated. This guy really isn't human. This year Weezy is nominated for five awards including Best Collaboration, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Video of Year. He is set to perform music from his forthcoming album Tha Carter IV.

Valentine's Day Playlist

Ok, so in compliance with one of America's most notorious traditions, I have made up my own Valentine's Day mix for all you lovers out there. I opted for a more eclectic mix than your usual radio tunes, some golden oldies, some newbies, some you may not recognize and some that you might not necessarily deem as a lovey-dovey tune, but what can I say, this is my prerogative. So between the roses, the wine, the chocolate, and the 3 little words that light up the world, take some time and give this magical playlist a listen.

Prince Kicks Kim Kardashian Off Stage

Poor Kimmy!

Prince was performing a massive concert last night at the Madison Square Garden and he invited on stage Kim Kardashian. As she was watching the performance with her boyfriend Kris Humphries, Prince asked her tom join him on stage but The Keeping Up With the Kardashian babe was immediately asked to step back as she was not dancing!

"OMG Prince just pulled me up on stage!!! I'm shaking!!!!" she twitted just before being kicked off stage. "I was so nervous I froze when Prince touched me!!!!"

But Kimmy was given a second chance when he called her - and a bunch of other VIP - back during his encore...

"Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself!" she tweeted, AGAIN. "We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!"

Pop Icon, Prince Touring

The flamboyant genius of the electric guitar is back! Prince's largely anticipated tour, "Welcome 2 America," is now unfolding much to the delight of fans who, until recently, salivated over rumors of "The Purple One's" return. Prince, who hasn't toured since 2004, has made a number of appearances over that time but they all seemed to fall on scattered dates that essentially came out of nowhere - other than TV show appearances, Prince would often go as far as appear announced at venues and sing a few songs. Now, at 52, Prince is back and he's keeping it cool.

Rollingstone Magazine : the Playlist Issue

I've always wondered what famous artists do listen at home, or while driving their Escalade. You probably know that a lot of people who work on TV don't actually watch it at home. I was also curious to see if my favorite artists shared my tastes. I was astonished to see that Chris Martin from Coldplay could actually be able to listen some good sh!t (hate Coldplay).

You have here fifty different artists ready to share their Top 10 songs on one theme they care about. Wanna know what MGTM's 10 best psychedelic songs are ? Are you curious to see what king of blues does Mick Jagger listen at home ? I find that pretty entertaining.

CD Review: The Dance Party, Touch

When you listen to a band called The Dance Party, there's a certain expectation that comes along with the music. Namely, that the album, suggestively titled Touch, will allow you to pop it in the stereo/Ipod speaker at your next sloppy house party, and not have to worry that some slow-tempo downer song will come on and ruin the mood. Maybe this dance party you're having is one that consists of yourself, dancing alone in your room. Whichever the case, The Dance Party's full-length debut for a major label, the aforementioned Touch, perfectly fulfills any and all of these requirements.
