Bass-dropping producer and DJ extraordinaire Afrojack made an exciting announcement last night: 15 tour dates have been added to his summer “Jacked” tour!
Afrojack is taking his talents to the electronic music hubs of America, making stops in Miami, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and Los Angeles amongst others.
We're a bit surprised by Afrojack’s choice of adding another New York date, after closing Electric Daisy Carnival last weekend AND playing the afterparty at Pacha. But I suppose the Grammy-winning producer was just craving more of Pacha’s bottle-popping madness, which would explain why he will return to his stomping grounds for another dance-floor rattling performance June 28.
Some of our favorite art experiences are ones that surround us. The Grand Palais in Paris has been home to some of the strangest, most colorful, and awe-inspiring installations in the world. Starting this week the Grand Palais will experience another transformation--one that creates a bright, candy-coated environment.
During lunch, after our egg class with Shaun Hergatt, guest speaker Jacques Pépin spoke about his career and the past, present and future of the culinary world. Pépin is one of the most well-known chefs of this country who has one a myriad of awards during his career. He has written over 30 books and an innumerable amount of articles about the restaurant industry. He spoke of his Emmy Award-winning television series with Julia Child, where they never wrote down recipes or planned the show. His humor and energy filled the room as the crowd listened in awe about his experiences in the kitchen and his many accomplishments.
The madness, mayhem, and musical excellence that is EDC has finally bequeathed its best kept secret: its absolutely epic NYC lineup! Featuring 4 stages, over 50 artists, and occurring over 3 days, the sickest EDM festival in the US has not disappointed. While the full lineup can be viewed below, honorable mention must be made of the monstrous names appearing throughout the fest--beginning with the headliners!
Friday’s headliners include Armin van Buuren, Fatboy Slim, and Chase & Status. Meanwhile, Saturday is shaping up to be the crown jewel of the whole affair as Avicii, Sebastian Ingrosso, Calvin Harris, Alesso, Steve Angello, and John Digweed are set to melt face and headline the whole shebang. Lastly, Sunday tears down the house with headliners Afrojack, Bassnectar, Nero, R3HAB, and a yet unannounced “Very Special Guest”!
The next two weeks are rife with concerts for any music lover out there; Bad Brains for the punks, Mastodon for the metalheads, and enough dance and electronic music to satisfy even the most die hard ravers. Frenetically we race against clocks: clocks demarcating time, deadlines, and necessary markers in our existence. Nothing reaffirms this more than the construct of the “work week." As expected, EDC NYC includes the biggest names in house and electronic dance music including Avicii, Calvin Harris, Afrojack, Alesso, AN21 & Max Vangeli, Art Department, Bassnectar, Chuckie, Danny Tenaglia, Erick Morillo, Fatboy Slim, John Digweed, R3HAB, Thomas Gold and Hot Natured. They've also released more details on seating and ticketing.
