NYFW: Catwalk + Sidewalk Accessory Trends

Fashion Week is the week to know what is going to be treading, or should we say trending, our way in the coming seasons. The runway is of course where we all study styles and figure out what trends to prepare for. However "street chic" is just as much a part of the week as the runways. Some of the best styles and inspirations can be found on the streets of New York and fashion week just happens to be the time when all of these trend setters are baited into one single place by their common hunger for fashion. This, my friends, is the perfect opportunity for those who can't get into the shows, to find fashion forward looks!

The Magicians of Fashion: Our 5 Fave Stylists

After a full-fledged week of fashion, we were inspired to recognize those who put it all together. What we like to call "The Magicians of Fashion." It sounds fun, but styling is no easy task. In fact, it's an art form. Some can style themselves at the snap of a finger, and others require a little help. Consider this a shout out to all of those stylists who have put together memorable looks, grew from nothing to some of the best in the biz, and even had an influence on trends heard around the world.

The first is Rachel Zoe. We know, no-brainer, right? This fashionista is most well-known for her celeb clientele and her passion for costume jewelry, boho-chic style, and large and in charge dark shades. She has become an inspiration to many where her background lies in New Jersey and her success in the limelight of L.A. With no formal training in styling, she has shown us that anything is possible when you have the drive and hard work in your grasp!

Chanel Celebrates 10 Years in Sin City with Rachel Zoe, Jessica Alba

Last Friday night, a star-studded crowd celebrated Chanel's 10th year in Las Vegas. The legendary fashion house not only celebrated their newly remodeled boutique at the Bellagio, but they also popped the champagne for the opening of their “Numeros Privees: A Journey Through the World of Chanel" exhibit. The newly opened exhibit features a 10-room installation of the world of Chanel. One room features a Karl Lagerfield dollhouse complete with CC logo print wallpaper and Coco Chanel dolls, dressed in mini Chanel jackets! A room next door features a classic quilted chain Chanel handbag with a 24 screen video of the making of the bag --right down to how the stitching is created.

ALMOST FAMOUS
It's a Brad Brad World

Who said former assistants couldn't get their own shows? Brad Goreski, former assistant to the talented Rachel Zoe, has since announced his document series for Bravo TV. Great, something interesting to watch during our down time! Brad, known for his unique sense of style (coloring blocking trends and bow ties), will be giving viewers an insight to his personal life in his new reality show titled “It's a Brad Brad World.” Catchy, huh?

The show is said to premiere January 2nd ( so we'll try not to party too hard). Since his rumored ugly split with Zoe, Brad has had his hands full. Juggling his work schedule, styling career, working on a book, and writing for InStyle magazine (and you thought you were a busy bee). Let's hope some of the juicy celeb details; like who styles who or who shops where, will be captured on the new show.

One personal aspect the fabulous stylist shows is his 10 year anniversary with boyfriend Gary Janetti. The two throw a huge Grecian-themed party in their yard for the occasion. Awww just when we thought Celebrities couldn't get any cuter.

Missoni and Iman Honored at Rodeo Drive Walk of Style

Sunday evening, 400 block of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills was shut down. The occasion? Missoni and supermodel Iman were being honored with their very own plaques at Rodeo Drive's Walk of Style. The plaques will be permanently embedded into the sidewalk of Rodeo Drive and feature a quote and a signature from each fashion icon.

Before presenting the Missoni family with their award, Quincy Jones provided the crowd with a few laughs. "I'm a junkie - a Missoni junkie!" He said before adding, "Everyone is! If you don't believe it, just take a look at that tornado that hit Target last month!" He was of course referring to the sold-out Missoni for Target collection back in September, which crashed their website and caused Missoni devotees to literally camp outside of Target stores in order to snag a piece of the limited collection.

GLAM DAMN IT Gucci Fall 2011 is gorgeous, but keeps it a little too real for us.
Be Friendly, Be Faux!

From Prada to Christian Dior and Gucci, the catwalks were awash with fur this season. The problem is we like little fluffy animals. In fact, we like them soooo much that we don't really want to start wearing them dead on our backs. So how can we work this season's fabulous trend and still remain animal friendly?

Halston Heritage tapped into the opulent trend for jewel colored furs, with its faux fur coat in sapphire blue. Whilst Rachel Zoe's long awaited new collection, showcased a ton of wearable faux furs --from on-trend faux fur vests to her ever so cozy, but stylish, cropped 'Penelope' jacket.

GLAM DAMN IT Animal trend
I am Women's Wear, Hear me Roar

It is no secret that our society is obsessed with the animal kingdom. Animals serve as symbols and icons for everything from ancient history to economics to pop culture to fashion. The owl is commonly known as the symbol of Athena, the Goddess of wisdom and warfare. A bat flashed across the night sky is instantly recognized as the mark of Batman. A horse strategically placed on the left-side of a polo ensures it is that of Ralph Lauren. A bunny wearing a bowtie will inevitably be identified with Playboy. Even a little blue bird has come to be recognized solely with Twitter.

Season after season, animal print has been a recurring trend proving that it's (almost) impossible to go wrong when paying homage to our furry friends. Signature Christian Louboutin leopard print heels look perfect with any LBD, a DKNY python tote will undoubtedly please your inner wild-child, and a Rachel Zoe faux fur vest and some hot chocolate are all you need to make it through a hard winter. Animal prints have left their tracks on everything from couture to runway to vintage to personal accessories to home decor. But this season, the feral trend has been taken one paw-print further. Now, instead of just animal spots, stripes, and prints here and there, ensembles are swarming with entire critters.
