Inside Coachella 2012: The Sets, The Sweat, The Party

Hundreds of LED lit balloons marked the sky as we gazed over what had become our home over the past four days. It was the last show, the final push. We were running on fumes and anticipation after a weekend full of countless standout acts. This was the set we had been waiting for since we were fourteen, sneaking Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg CD’s into our sister’s Walkman to memorize every explicit detail of what would become so monumental so quickly. As we stood amongst the masses in complete disbelief, the entire weekend flashed before our eyes.

Coachella Weekend 1 Video Highlights: Part 1

Don't worry, I didn't make it to Coachella either. Fortunately, there are tons of videos on Youtube this year of some of the best performances thanks to the live streaming coverage offered. Here's a list of the highlights. Look for more in depth coverage from joonbug later this week (we were on the ground too!).

Bon Iver, playing the track "Wolves." Hot off of winning a grammy, Justin Vernon played to a huge crowd on Saturday night.

Radiohead played. Need I say more? They also played for almost two hours, and you can see ALL of it below!

M83's performance to an amped up crowd on Friday night. Katy Perry rumored to be in attendence...

Pulp, legendary Brit Pop masters played a killer set on Friday. Once again, watch the hour plus set in its entirety below!

Frank Ocean opened with a Dylan cover. Awesome! Watch his set below.

Coachella Releases Final Lineup for Weekend 1

Sure it's only days until this year's Coachella in Indio, California, but it's never too late to post a final lineup! This year, the schedule is tight and some hard decisions will have to be made. Do you want to see Radiohead or A$ap Rocky, Avicii or Dr. Dre with Snoop Dog? To tell you the truth, every decision is a good decision when the lineup is as good as it is, but that won't make deciding any easier.

Official Coachella Lineup Announced

Coachella JUST released their official lineup, and it's possibly the best ever. The list includes a dizzying number of the biggest names in music right now. Including Avicii, David Guetta, Kaskade, Swedish House Mafia, Girltalk, Calvin Harris, Afrojack, Weeknd, and more! We wouldn't be surprised if these tickets sold out faster than Swedish House Mafia at Madison Square Garden. This is MAJOR. Check it:

From The Ashes

Radiohead steps out of the dark.

Radiohead, the unit (as in, not Thom via Atoms for Peace) and a tour, (as in, not the anxiety-inducing, rumor-stimulating one-off performances that have left myriad worshippers wounded in their unplanned wake) reunite after a three quiet tourless years. Accompanying the titanic rockers will be Other Lives, an indie rock band from Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The tour, which hits the stage February 27 at Miami, Florida's American Airlines Arena flows throughout much of the South (Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Austin et cetera) and will wrap up March 15 in Glendale, Ariazona at Jobing.com Area. (David Foster Wallace fans will be in a cold sweat by now. The venue names can only be described as uncomfortable)

Zombies & Dylan Ratigan Take Wall Street

"Peaceful" corporate zombies took to Wall Street yesterday for the on-going Occupy Wall Street protest. Activists dressed as "money-eating" zombie banksters represented what one protester called "a metaphor and symbol of corporate greed." Five arrests were made including two zombies. One thing is certain, these protesters are perhaps a little more media savvy than we realized. Between the big Radiohead hoax and zombies, they sure know how to hit on what's popular and get attention.

Radiohead Playing on Wall Street Today?

The Occupy Wall Street drama continues as Gawker releases a report/rumor that Radiohead will be playing at 4pm today on Wall Street. Though the band's management denies it, a OWS spokesperson insists it's absolutely happening. Hmmm..who are we to believe? Protesters are definitely publicity-hungry, so this could very well be a ploy for more headlines --and it's pretty genius if you ask us. Considering people have offered everything short of harvesting their souls to the devil (some probably have, actually) to get the much coveted and sold out Radiohead tickets, we wouldn't be surprised if OWS was using this as another stunt. Here are the latest updates from Gothamist:

SCENETRACKER
Diplo at Marquee Club

Diplo is best known for his collaboration with M.I.A in her mega-hit "Paper Planes" which earned him a Grammy nomination in 2008 for Record of the Year. This Philadelphia native has also produced for Missy Elliot, Santigold and remixed works by Radiohead, Britney Spears, Beck and many others. His record label Mad Decent has collaborated with many musical "underdogs" bringing them to stardom. Brazilian baile funk and Angolan Kuduro are a few examples of this. Diplo has worked with various musical genres, going from cumbia to dubstep, to salsa to punk. The musical realm in his productions is huge. And his talent is undeniable.

Morrissey's New Album is Fully Conceived...

Morrissey has already cemented a long and strong career. He's spent the past two decades crooning like a blood thirsty Sinatra while putting a friendly British face on the posters of PETA. From Your Arsenal to You Are the Quarry to Years of Refusal, his hair slowly silvers as his relevance refuses to fade. He also futzed around back in the eighties with a band you may have heard of, but he's more concerned that you forgive and forget his history and focus on his solo career.

Having just swam through a rain-drenched set at last weekends Glastonbury festival, Morrissey shot some words across the pond to the Pitchfork.com offices that alluded to his new album and his grumpy frustration with the modern music industry. Mozz says his follow-up to 2009's Year of Refusal is all written, but he's just looking for someone to pay him to put it in the can and release it. He played three songs earlier this month for the BBC as an offering to fans and bait to producers, but according to him labels are about as hungry for his new album as a vegetarian at a bacon buffet:
