Supreme Style at the I Want Now Fashion Event

Last Thursday evening, Joonbug.com along with a stunning Adrienne Bailon hosted a glamorous evening of cocktails and fashion at the illustrious Tenjune nightclub in the Meatpacking District. The evening began with a one-hour open bar, tiny treats by Baked By Melissa, and a red carpet event emceed by celebrity blogger Micah Jesse. Jesse's effervescent personality lit up the scene as guests began to arrive for their moment of fame in front of a swarm cameras and flashes from around the room. Caridee English, winner of Cycle Seven of America's Next Top Model, worked the lower level of Tenjune with a fierce blonde mohawk and four inch designer pumps. Several other ANTM alumni were there to work the runway, including Laura, Lulu, Ashley and Jennifer from Cycle 13. As guests began to fill up the dance floor and runway, eyes shifted to the models clad in the latest apparel and accessories from AZU Tees, Recession Denim, 2enlight10 by Regine Basha, and many more. New York based apparel company Dollhouse supplied the trendy and towering heels for the catwalk, bringing with them over 200 gift bags filled with fun treats, including an AZU tee, Vitamin Water, and RAMY Pure Water Cleansing Mousse, ensuring that every guest left happy, healthy and beautiful.

Recession Denim Rethinks the Classics

Since it's practically impossible to step outside without encountering someone's fancy schmancy luxury denim-clad ass flaunting itself down the street, it can be difficult to not to get a little bummed (no pun intended) about the likelihood of ever obtaining a pair for yourself. Those of us that aren't as well endowed (and thanks to the recession, that's a lot of us) are left to fight over the last pair in our size at a sample sale or wait for luxury department stores to have warehouse sales (where items are still too expensive, even on markdown). But the clouds that are dampening our dreams of denim grandeur are lifting because of one woman's mission to make incredible denim incredibly affordable.

The Evolution of AZU

Bringing new meaning to the term "monkey business," AZU Brand has arrived on the scene to give fashion a new face - that of a cartoon monkey. Launched less than a year ago by three friends who detected a bit irony in their corporate desk jobs, the AZU team decided to explore some of the ways that monkeys can resemble human beings. By illustrating some of these concepts onto t-shirts, AZU is gaining speed as a fun and accessible t-shirt brand for consumers of all ages. On March 25th, you can catch their designs at the I Want Now fashion show event at Tenjune alongside some of the fashion industry's most promising new talents. I spoke with Cara Hall, one of the founding members of AZU, about the brand and why they decided to ditch their desk jobs and start monkeying around.

Recession Denim

Recessionistas, have no fear! I know every woman has an expensive pair of jeans in their closet that they paid way too much money for! But why wouldn’t you buy them? Your butt has never looked so good, nor have your legs ever looked this skinny! They make you feel great about yourself! However, it is hard to continue dishing out a few hundred dollars for a pair in these tough times.

Have no fear, Daniella Siri is here! Her Recession Denim line, launched in April 2009 gives women great jeans on the cheap. They range from $85-$120 and like to hug the figure. Only the brave should slip-on! Daniella’s idea is that women spend a little more on a pair of great, staple jeans that will be in style for a while. This allows you to splurge on the trendy tops, sweaters, and jewelry you have been eyeballing for days! [Couture in the City]
