NYC's Scores Grand Re-opening on W. 28th Street

Like a phoenix arising from the ashes of its embattled home on West 28th street’s Club Row area, world-renowned strip club Scores is back in business. The establishment, which was made famous by Howard Stern, had hardly been a hotbed for lusty action lately; rather, it was inactive after a devastating NYPD raid shut it down over two years ago. Jon Franklin of Digital City explains that, “Scores was closed in January 2007 after cops raided the club and arrested several employees on prostitution charges…Undercover cops went to Scores and found sex being sold in VIP lounges, backrooms, and bathrooms. Supposedly, the managers told the undercover cops that it was okay to pay for sex because that’s why the sex dens were there.”

New Plans for Scores Site

It’s official. After 17 years Scores, one of the most profitable strip clubs in New York, it is shutting its doors due to the weak economy and the possibility that they could lose their liquor license. The co-owner of the club says a new strip club will open in its place, but under new ownership.

It is rumored that one of Las Vegas’ largest strip joints might be taking over the east side club. The new owner of the place is a group affiliated with the Sapphire Club in Las Vegas which always draws a celebrity crowd. The group has also purchased another club in Chelsea but has not revealed any plans for the location.
