SCOTT SARTIANO
The Butler Group, consisting of partners Scott Sartiano and Richie Akiva, celebrated the grand opening of 1Oak, their brand new 16,000 square foot nightclub located in the Mirage Hotel over the weekend. The two night celebration not only welcomed the new hotspot to Sin City, but also benefited the GiveLove charity, who received a $50,000 generous donation. GiveLove was founded by Patricia Arquette and Rosetta Getty, with all proceeds going to improve housing and sanitation in poverty-stricken Haiti. Rumors floated around that Katy Perry, fresh off her divorce from Russell Brand, was going to perform. Alas, there was no performance from the blue-haired pop star. Other guests included Markus Molinari, David Arquette, Chris Evans, Christina Milian, Patricia Arquette, Chris Evans, Rosetta and Balthazar Getty, Christina Milian, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Shenae Grimes.
On the crossroads of Chelsea and the Meatpacking District, this posh lounge truly fits their motto, “one of a kind.” With spacious interior featuring oak ceilings, ostrich leather walls, a roaring fireplace, mirror walled outdoor smoking area, and mazelike floor patterns with an array of VIP tables patronized by celebrities and top models. 1OAK is the place to see and be seen by New York's hottest celebrities.
The owners, Richie Akiva, Scott Sartiano, and Ronnie Madra birthed one of NYC’s hottest nightclubs through over 40 combined years of success with Butter, Lotus, The Park, and G Spa & Lounge. It’s safe to say, these men know how to throw a good party, if you can get in.
Richie Akiva and Scott Sartiano's claim their newest project, The Darby, will not be like their other ventures, or even like the other restaurant/nightclub sets around today.
The pair say they "want to bring back an old-fashioned sense of class from the ’50’s and ’60’s, ... a place where you can dress up, have an amazing dinner and some music and entertainment." From the guys that created iconic venues like 1 Oak and Butter we would expect nothing less.
On board for the project is TV personality, Chef Alexandra Guarnaschelli who has talked about a Continental menu featuring a raw bar and small plates for sharing.
The Darby: Wear your best. Bring your appetite.

Fill next week's hump day with a heaping serving of barbecue and beer. Next Wednesday, join Hill Country as they host a barbecue dinner and beer tasting, sponsored by the Ithaca Beer Co.
Most people are so blinded by the neon lights of the Strip that they forget all aspects of Vegas that don't involve boas, stripper heels, or some sort of magical illusion. But on Wednesday's episode of Top Chef Masters Rick Moonen of RM Seafood in Mandalay Bay showed America what they were missing out on.

A California transplant is taking "steak" in New York. It's not quite a fast food chain (the meat is real!), and it's not a sit down chain restaurant either, but it is a chain, of sorts. Tri Tip Grill is providing New Yorkers with the same grub that made them big in California. They stick to what they know, and do best which is a particular cut of meat called the tri tip. Although not particularly common, do not underestimate the impressiveness of this cut. At Tri Tip Grill is goes something like this:
- The tri tip comes from the part of the sirloin that is flavorful, tender and lean.
- Their meat is Certified Angus Beef, aged for 21 days
- Then it's rubbed in a special marinade and seasoning
- It hits a roaring flame for some brisk searing
- The tri tip is finished in a wood smoker and oven
