Summer Sign-Off: Hit Up These Places

These last few days of summer are precious so take advantage and do all things summer: enjoy the outdoors, bqq, and cool off with something cool 'n' sweet. Check out all of these New York City restaurants offering up just what you need!

Go On a Picnic:

Folks who want to relax in Washington Square Park should order pizza picnic boxes from Pizza Roma on Bleecker Street in the West Village. These clever carryout containers, named after parks in Rome, are filled with the restaurant’s signature Roman-style pizza al taglio (square pizza by the cut), Paninis, fresh summer salads, and more.

Shake it Up!

Between fashion week and the nightlife of New York we (the lowly sweet tooths) never really stood a chance. This cupcake movement however has stood too long unopposed in its monopolization of "street sweets". The ubiquitous confections have been taking over the city like a swarm of locust bakers but now they have met their match.

Down in the west village on a stretch of 6th ave. that is curiously barren of many restaurants is BLT Burger, the awkward teenager in the BLT family. The décor is reminiscent of Danny Zuko and Kenickie’s burger joint but instead of your Eskimo pies you will find milkshakes that really deliver the goods. Cold, creamy, luscious and for an extra couple bucks spiked with the booze of your choice, it really doesn’t get much better.

Banh Mi, Baby

While some choose to never stray past the Common, a walk into the heart of the hustle and bustle of Chinatown offers an invitation to discover some of Boston’s most flavorful finds. Converging at the corner of Harrison Ave and Beach St., these spots offer an array of unique flavors that make it the tastiest corner in town.

The Juice Bar

Stop in on a hot day and treat yourself to an endless list of refreshing options. While the mango and papaya shakes are fresh and deliciously tangy, dare to try the milky durian, jackfruit or the taro for a more distinct taste of Asia, especially when chewy tapioca pearls are added to the mix. The Jasmine green tea milkshake, a fan favorite, is sure to be slurped down fast and offers an added kick.
