The 24 year old son of composer Joseph Brooks is being questioned regarding this morning's murder of an unidentified woman in the Meatpacking District's landmark hotel, SoHo House. The woman was discovered lifeless in a bathtub in one of the hotel's upper floors. With no apparent trauma, the woman was said to have checked in with the younger Brooks yesterday evening. Brooks paid for the room for the young woman. Police were called after hotel guests on the floor below reported water leaking through the ceiling from the bathtub she was found in by staff.
With the success of Soho House in London, New York, Los Angeles and Berlin, the members only club finally makes its way to South Beach. The almost "too exclusive" club, Soho Beach House, is located on site of the historic Sovereign hotel, which has been redesigned and expanded to include a 16-story oceanfront tower. The beach house boast 50 rooms, a screening snug, 2 pools, a beach club, as well as a Cecconi's restaurant and an "expansive Cowshed spa". The spa caters to guest with several treatment rooms, as well as an active floor overlooking the oceanfront where members can arrange for yoga classes or a personal trainer.
Hi Joonbuggers!
A quick welcome to my new weekly column (and that was it if you missed it) and now lets get down to business.
And business it was last week especially for all the stores that participated in Fashion's Night Out, but more of that in a minute, first I want to talk about the sharp end of fashion week, the shows. I kicked off this season by taking a strut down to West Broadway to check out the new collection from Prince Peter, that cheeky little character talent who seems always to hang with the hippest and best looking people on the planet. As usual his show was full of great looking things draped in his designs and the liquor was free-flowing and plentiful which was a result for me because I then got a chance to eat it off by going in to see my old mate Kevin, the Maitre D at Balthazar which was, needless to say, filled to the brim as usual .
Two locals from Miami Beach, Tini Courtney and Jason Masik team up to establish their own line of one of a kind, handmade accessories. Tini is attending the Miami International University of Art and Design and loves to collect rare and unusual trinkets from around the world. Jason considers himself to be a free spirit and shares an affinity for nature with his partner. Together, the spirit of the wild, primal energy that flows from nature inspires them, as they unite to form H.O.W.L. or Handle Only With Love. The brand name H.O.W.L. represents their concept with a collection of dream catcher necklaces, made from stones found in places like Hawaii and Tibet. They construct each piece with an eclectic mix of their special findings, along with a promise of positive energy to whoever wears it. Tini is an avid antique fair visitor, which gives the line an heirloom feeling, making these exotic conversation pieces the essential must have.
Hollywood loves a reason to party and they do it like no other. The 2010 Emmys aired this past Sunday and the night was star filled as the celebs took to the streets, exercising their right to celebrate. As usual, Joonbug knows who was where and what they were up to. Who was caught canoodling, who got shut down? Read it all here:
Tom Hanks, Kathy Griffin Alexander Skarsgard, Larry David, Ricky Gervais, and Jenny McCarthy flocked to the Pacific Design Center to mix, mingle and be merry. Lauren Graham and ex boyfriend Matthew Perry canoodled at the bar. Wonder if a rekindle is aflame. Emmanuelle Chriqui got a half hour worth of chit chat with Glee's Matthew Morrison before he bailed to talk to someone better. Don't know what he was thinking. Or maybe we do.
Talk about one hot couple! The "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford and the Sports Illustrated model Bar Rafaeli were spotted sharing an intimate moment while partying Friday night at New York hotspot 1Oak.
Vince Shlomi - better known as the Sham Wow guy - is becoming a fixture at the Bryant Park tents. Feel free to boo him if you see him hanging around this week.

Apparently, the perks of working at a renowned New York eating establishment go beyond the free gourmet food you manage to pilfer while on the job. For employees of The Spotted Pig, Meatpacking’s premier gastropub, the gig includes an invitation to owner Ken Friedman’s annual Superbowl sleepover party at the Soho House.
Luckily, the rooftop pool was heated for the few brave epicures who choose to take a dip before kick-off. After washing up in their respective rooms, staffers made their way to the private hotel/club’s library to watch the game and stuff their faces. The food served-up from celebrity-chef Neil Ferguson’s kitchen was a combination of unpretentious, traditional Superbowl fare: mac&cheese, chicken fingers, brownies etc. and less typical items like scallops, steak, pork belly with apple puree and parmesan pumpkin puree.
