Memorial Day weekend is almost here and with it comes parties, barbecues, beach time, and lots, and lots, of fun activities. Now we just need to figure out what to wear! Whether you're hitting the Hamptons, Cape Cod, or Miami you'll need great style. Clutch or Bag- That is the question!
Whether it is an all weekend event, or a couple hours for the day, make your choice of handbag accordingly. In just three short years since being signed to Storm Models, she has appeared in numerous magazine editorials, walked the runway for brands such as Chanel, Stella McCartney, and Oscar de la Renta, and even landed the Burberry Prorsum campaign in 2011.
With the sunny seasons upon us, lightweight, easy throw-on pieces are crucial to keep in your closet for a hot day. We love the crochet craze that always goes on during spring and summer . This season, it seems to be appearing in more ways than one! From dresses, bathing suits, to handbags and shoes (we may even catch a crochet bike or two decorating the streets of Manhattan) the light knitwear is definitely a must-have!
Stella's Fabulous Fashion Fete
Quickly dubbed as the “hard to beat event of the season,” Stella McCartney’s ‘fashion spectacular’ and first London presentation in sixteen years was a true highlight of the London Fashion Week Fall 2012 season. Opting out of her usual Paris Fashion Week appearance, McCartney brought her evening wear collection ‘home’ in a celebration of nationalism that coincides with her role designing for the Great Britain Olympic team in this summer’s also London-based games. The black tie, formal dinner affair hosted an eclectic group of guests including Rihanna, Kate Moss, Kanye West, Zaha Hadid, Peter Blake, Twiggy, and Bianca Jagger. Dressed in the collection, models joined guests at each table as Ronnie Scott’s orchestra played jazz standards followed by a performance by Dutch magician Hans Klok and special assistant Alexa Chung. Even after all of this action—the party was just getting started. The multi-talented models (some professional dancers in disguise) then took markedly more conspicuous positions atop each table for a flash mob-esque performance to a Led Zeppelin soundtrack. Marble-printed silk and feminine lace appeared in bold cobalt blue and rich orange alongside stark black and white. Silhouettes ranged from full-length gowns to bubbly cocktail frocks and featured McCartney’s signature tailored suiting and color-blocked hourglass silhouettes. "I wanted to do something special to celebrate being back in London," said McCartney. "I love magic, and that was pretty magic."
Stella McCartney opens doors today in the neighborhood whose “fashion-tational pull” keeps growing stronger. Stella’s Soho boutique has been generating buzz since the closing of the Meatpacking location in May 2011. Included in Racked NY’s Top 10 Retail Spaces to Watch in 2012, we’re not the only ones excited about shopping high-end fashion in lower Manhattan. The 5,200-square-foot, two-level space will offer her ready-to-wear, kids’ wear, and Adidas collections. There’s also an exclusive boutique-opening merch just for your posh pup: a black grosgrain, pleather, and brass dog collar and leash retailing for a cool $495.
With the wild success of her first fragrance Stella, which launched in 2003 and was followed by two diffusion scents Stella Nude and Stella Sheer, it comes as no surprise that Stella McCartney is soon to debut a brand new fragrance to the masses.
Sweetly titled L.I.L.Y., an acronym for “Linda I Love You”, in honor of the designers late mother Linda McCartney, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 1998, the fragrance pays homage to her mother’s favorite flower.
