SUPERMODEL
What is it about Terry Richardson that lands him an applause and more work after a public scandal?
One victim from his alleged sexual assaults may suggest it's his manhood, while the remaining industry insiders may just see him as an innocent being, good at what he does and honest about his obsession with women, sex and creepiness.
Regardless, Richardson is back to work. Contrary to what many were hoping for, the recent allegations against him had no lasting effect.
Just when we decided to count new mother, Jourdan Dunn, out and and replace her with what's her name? Rose Cordero, we recieved news of Dunn being in the process of making a massive comeback into the fashion Industry.
The Imagist reports:
"Back in the editorial mix BIG-time...think Blue Chip Only Girl A + bookings back to back."
Well, honestly, we were kind of excited about our imaginary replacement - though Dunn is quite ferocious.
It's quite pleasing when a model doesn't feel compelled to embark on a career as an actress. A host or guest reporter? Okay. But Oscar-chasing gals who depend on their designer friends for red carpet looks - no thank you!
Coco Rocha, on the other hand, is very adorable. The supermodel, who has walked her massive share of runways, lent a few lines to a reporting gig sometime last year, which has led to her latest assignment from ET Canada - reporting from the Grammys later this month. However, Coco knows when enough is enough. Most importantly, she knows when to return to the runway. Only this time, Coco hints that she won't be walking out until the end, to take a bow for her own show. At least, that's what she hopes is to come in September. The model-turned-designer has been working on a dress collection - the name of which she promises will be phenomenal, but remains a secret. She hints to The Daily that she believes in high fashion, affordable clothing, and loves the Victorian 1800s. With so much on her plate, who knows if we will ever see her sly smirk on the catwalk again?
Just weeks after Lara Stone showed the world she's capable of competing in more than one tongue wrestling match with boyfriend, British comedian David Walliams, Stone and Walliams (moreso Walliams) announced their recent engagement.
Take that Kate Moss!
Walliams suprised Stone on a job in Brazil, subsequent to receiving blessings from Stone' parents.
Her ring?
Well, in humble model fashion of course, it looks very delicate - with a large stone, surrounded by several complementing diamonds - and it's vintage
Even better, Walliams is rumored to have already requested Giles Deacon to design for the wedding. Where did this man come from, and are there anymore left?
Model Sessilee Lopez came straight from Philly and has worked her way up into the world of fashion. Born in 1989, this 20-year-old is American born, but is of Dominican and Portuguese descent, giving her an extra flair that makes her an intriguing figure in the modeling industry.
For Sessliee, modeling was a strong desire but seemed a distant dream, in part because she growing up in a tough city, resulting in her tomboyish manner, but primarily because she suffered from the skin condition eczema when she was 12. In fact, skin seems to play a major role in the career of Sessilee because she is often cited as being an “African American model”—her Latina heritage is largely ignored simply because her skin is of a darker complexion.
You know you’ve hit it big when you have your own official website. All fans have to do is Google model Coco Rocha’s name and find out about her early life in Vancouver, her booming modeling career, and take a look at her fashion photos, all of which are on her homepage. The 20-year-old model had no original plans of becoming who she is today, but was thrust into the industry upon being discovered by Charles Stuart in an Irish dance competition.
Although Rocha started her career by signing with Supreme Management in 2004, it wasn’t until she met career-starter Steven Miesel, and was photographed by him for the 2006 issue of Italian Vogue, that her career sky-rocketed. Once a diamond in the rough, Rocha is on her way to becoming one of the world’s top models but also makes it known that she is not just a pretty face. She has spoken out about the prevalence of eating disorders in the modeling industry and how weight was a personal struggle for her, as well.
Forget the pristine world of male modeling where tans and blonde hair reign and move over for the new ‘bad boy’ of the runway: 22-year-old, Houston-native, Cole Mohr. His androgynous looks, razor-sharp cheekbones and tattooed body have earned him his status as one of fashion’s edgiest new kids on the block.
Here’s how his ladder to success has looked so far:
- 2006: Lands his first ad campaign for Dior Homme
- 2007: Becomes the face of the Alexander Wang Fall campaign
- 2008: Joins Luke Worrell on the summer cover of Arena Homme, photographed by Juergen Teller
- 2008: His androgyny wins him the position as the male and female face for Marc by Marc Jacobs, photographed by Juergen Teller
- January 2009: Becomes the face of Costume National
- February 2009: Mohr films his New York Fashion Week for New York Magazine
Caroline Trentini was born on July 6th, 1987 in Rio Grande de Sul, Brazil. Caroline was brought up in a single parent home after the passing of her father and was unexpectedly discovered at the age of 13 while walking down the street. This was no ordinary occurrence because she was discovered by the same model scout that scooped up Gisele Bundchen, perhaps an omen of the enormous success Trentini would have in her later modeling career. The discovery sparked a move to the model town of Sao Paolo and eventually New York City where Trentini couldn’t speak English but was fluent in the language of modeling.
CALLING ALL FASHIONISTAS! CALLING ALL FASHIONISTAS! One of my favorite seasons has approached and I am so excited! No, I’m not talking about summer; I’m speaking of fall haute couture season. For those of you who don't already know, haute couture (better known as couture) is French for "high dressmaking". It refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing. Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and is constructed from high-quality fabric that is sewn with attention to detail. Twice a year (fall and spring), the fashion industry introduces the word to daring and imaginative collections. This season, fashion houses such as Christian Dior, Chanel, Armani Prive and Valentino (to name a few), are viewing past the current economic state and shelling out the big bucks for amazing quality.
Hilary St. Claire, better known as Hilary Rhoda, was born on April 6, 1987, in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Her modeling career began in 2004, when her mother took her to an open casting in Washington, D.C. Often compared to a young Brooke Shields, Rhoda is renowned for her heavy eyebrows and has graced the covers of Vogue, W, Dazed & Confused, British Harper’s Bazaar and French Elle, to name but a few.
