SUPERMODELS
Looking to brush up on your brush stoke technique critic this week? Check out these gallery opening and events!
Thursday, May 10th
Bohemian National Hall
A consortium of leading specialists will offer traditional African, Asian, Oceanic, and Native American works of art of the highest quality, including rare masterpieces as well as more affordable items.
Bienvenue! Fashion week is here, and we couldn't be more excited. Our highlights for today include: Vena Cava, Christian Siriano, Farah Angsana, Daniel Vosovic and many more. Vogue has relaunched its site, vogue.com, by capturing a first-look preview from the Brooklyn duo of Vena Cava and Oliver Theyskens for Theory. We expect to see plenty of color, rubber-choker pieces and motif jewelry from Vena Cava, alongside structured tailoring from Theyskens. And, we couldn't ask for anymore. Could we?
Remember when Coco Rocha began dating her interior designer, James Conran, and we all thought...eww!
Rocha recently announced via Twitter and her blog that Conran proposed to her last week. And, she gratefully accepted.
In all things fabulous, it's nice to know Coco Rocha can keep herself in the press. After all, models need love too.
Either:
It's time for Vogue to rally up a new group of "fresh faces," considering the cast from just last May are either getting knocked up, not walking in shows, or are just anxious to experience their senior citizen "I used to be a model" years.
Or...
Remember when Gemma Ward traveled to NYC for her birthday and she was, well, fat?
And then, Gemma promised her return to fashion.
Apparently, an anonymous magazine-position tipster, is claiming Gemma's modeling days are over - due to the photogs ruining her brand at IMG.
IMG hasn't confirmed any details, though they turned down Gemma's appearance in Harper's Magazine the same month her 'fat' photos surfaced.
We may have ultimately come to the conclusion that Abbey Lee Kershaw was a loser with a modeling career ending very soon, after she turned down walking in Alexander McQueens infamous Spring 2010 show.
But the model claims it was for safety and health regulations - still in denial over the famed lobster claw shoes. Um, sure?
"I'm hoping [the shoe heights are] going to come back down soon because . . . I mean, health and safety regulations have to come into play at some point."
It's finally Fashion Week! Officially. Today.
And as we spend less and less time posting and more time finding which Starbucks is the best for wi-fi and naps between shows, we invite everyone to follow us via Twitter for up-to-date news on what the Joonbug staff is up to this week.
And, if we don't update, just assume we bumped into someone who could make us a star in the next Balmain runway show.
For a second, we actually believed that could happen.
Happy Fashion Week!
It's quite pleasing when a model doesn't feel compelled to embark on a career as an actress. A host or guest reporter? Okay. But Oscar-chasing gals who depend on their designer friends for red carpet looks - no thank you!
Coco Rocha, on the other hand, is very adorable. The supermodel, who has walked her massive share of runways, lent a few lines to a reporting gig sometime last year, which has led to her latest assignment from ET Canada - reporting from the Grammys later this month. However, Coco knows when enough is enough. Most importantly, she knows when to return to the runway. Only this time, Coco hints that she won't be walking out until the end, to take a bow for her own show. At least, that's what she hopes is to come in September. The model-turned-designer has been working on a dress collection - the name of which she promises will be phenomenal, but remains a secret. She hints to The Daily that she believes in high fashion, affordable clothing, and loves the Victorian 1800s. With so much on her plate, who knows if we will ever see her sly smirk on the catwalk again?
