SYNTH
The Harvard Lampoon boasts itself as the longest running humor magazine based on the English language. Along with the vast numbers of humorists who have gone on to careers in the comedic entertainment industry, the organization will occasionally honor those whom it finds worthy of being included in the notable ranks of humerati. The latest of these honorees is the controversial synth-glam maven Peaches, who will be honored in an induction ceremony tonight in the mysterious “Lampoon Castle” located just outside of Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA.

“I went to school with Nelly Furtado. She was in band, played trombone. She was a bit of a dork at the time.” – Steve Bays
Venturing north to Victoria, British Columbia, Hot Hot Heat formed in 1999 as a synthpunk band with original front man Matt Marnik. After Marnik left the band and Steve Bays took control of the vocals, Hot Hot Heat's sound radically changed to fit Bays gyrating vocals. Now made up of drummer Paul Hawley, bassist Dustin Hawthorne and guitarist Luke Paquin, Hot Hot Heat has been flaming its way through the music scene. The group released their debut album Scenes One Through Thirteen in 2001. Their second album Make Up the Breakdown, released in 2002, was their major label debut with Sub-Pop Records. Make Up the Breakdown broke Hot Hot Heat into mainstream music media with their hit single “Bandages.” Hot Hot Heat has released their third album Elevator in 2005 and fourth Happiness LTD in 2007 to rave reviews and eager fans. The band is currently in the studio working on their fifth album to be released late 2008/ early 2009.

"I can't really help myself onstage. We're not really putting on a show, this is the way we are always." - Maja Ivarsson (Vocals)
The Sounds are a Swedish rock group that include vocalist Maja Ivarsson, keyboardist Jesper Anderberg, bassist Johan Bengtsson, drummer Fredrik Nilsson, and guitarist Felix Rodriguez. The new wave throwbacks with unapologetic debts to Blondie and Missing Persons formed in the late '90s and recorded Living in America in Stockholm and Nilsson's Helsingborg apartment. The album hit number four the week after its Swedish release, and was picked up for U.S. release in May of 2003 through New Line. Dying to Say This to You followed three years later which featured the hit single Ego. All together, The Sounds played over 200 shows in 2006, over half of which were in the United States.
