THE AVENGERS
For most of us, the Avengers premiered with a bang at midnight today. It was one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Not only is it an action film starring superheroes, but it ties together at least 5 films and a ton of characters into one movie. Fans of the comics and newcomers alike were also dying to see whether Joss Whedon’s touch would make the film a hit or a dud. The polarizing Buffy, Firefly, and Cabin in the Woods creator definitely drew a crowd. Midnight premieres across the country were packed with fans waiting to see the film. Some wore t-shirts and accessorized according to their favorite Avengers character. Others went for full costumes.
Paris Fashion Week has come to an end, and as sad and somewhat happy as we are, we must admit that the week's final days were most certainly the best. Designers who had shown earlier in fashion month (with exception of Cerruti's Richard Nicoll) were given a second chance to wow buyers, editors and fashion followers with their talents. Though some collections were a bit, well, boring, they made a pleasant statement. On the other hand, some collections provided a breath of fresh air to reunite the industry and remind everyone there is a future for fashion.
Having already made a super hero name for himself with the monumental success of Ironman, it is not a surprise that Robert Downey Jr. has recently signed a contract with Marvel Comics to star through Ironman 3. In addition, Robert is also set to star in Sherlock Holmes and the newest comic adventure series, The Avengers. With Serlock already filming, Ironman 2 set to be released in 2010 and The Avenger aimed for 2011, Robert's set to be our superhero for a longtime.
