The month of June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. Since the month is coming to a close, it's time to get on it! If you've been looking for a pet and don't want to shell out the big bucks for a high-class breed, the best way to get your kitty is adopting one. There are plenty of animal shelters all over the country and there are plenty of cats that want you as their mommas or poppas. The best way to give back to your favorite furry four-legged lovers is by taking one home with you. Check out the shelters below to find a cat near you! (If you're not ready to take on the responsibility of a new pet, feel free to donate to their cause!)
Drink, eat, and dance the night away for our furry friends! On March 31, The Morris Animal Refuge is hosting an event to benefit animal rescue. The event will feature a five hour open bar, elegant hors d’oeuves and carving stations, live DJs, and jazz trio to keep you entertained all night.
There will be a silent auction and raffle featuring fabulous prizes, all in order to raise money and awareness for the abandoned pets of Philadelphia. All proceeds go directly to The Morris Animal Refuge, which provides basic care, protection, and adoption services for abused, neglected and abandoned animals.
PetSet's Sushi Soiree which was held on August 11th was an exciting event! This year the event was held at the beautiful China Grill Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina. Chaired by PetSet Board Members Steve W. Hudson, Gerald Weber, Virginia I. (Ginny) Miller and Christopher Agostino. The members thanked everyone for attending and for bringing friends, too! Money was raised to support the homeless animals at the Humane Society of Broward County. A fabulous sunset was on the menu in addition to several exotic cocktails. Guests also enjoyed complimentary hand rolled sushi and super tasty chicken satay. It was a great night of mixing and mingling for young adults who share the same passion for helping animals.
China Grill Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina is hosting a Sushi Soiree on Thursday, August 11th, benefiting the Humane Society of Broward County. Partnering with PetSet, the restaurant will offer two complimentary cocktails, fabulous appetizers (and sushi of course). They will also be raffling off prizes including admission for four to their Sake, Maki and Roll Sushi School!
PetSet is a group of young professionals who enjoy attending social gatherings to raise funds for a great cause - our four legged friends! For more than 14 years now PetSetters have raised over $1.2 Million and have had a direct impact on the lives of thousands of homeless pets that come to the Humane Society of Broward County each year.
In an effort to redeem himself after going to prison for unspeakable animal cruelty, Michael Vick has partnered with The Humane Society to back an anti-dogfighting law in Congress. Since being released from prison he has gone on a PR campaign to show he has learned from his mistakes --but one has to wonder, what is all this really about? Is Vick's concern about the animals or is it really about maintaining his career/endorsement dollars?
