Groove to the Move
Los Angeles based Producer/DJ, Myndset is making some serious noise in the electronic dance music scene. His sound, a mix of electro and progressive, is best described as heavy hitting yet melodic. His eclectic remix roster includes the likes of Avicii, Deadmau5, Drake, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's, Foster the People, Gotye, Nervo, Skrillex and The Knocks. Myndset will be headlining Lilium this Friday with support from Chad Stark.
Famed chef, Tom Colicchio opened a new restaurant this weekend in the Hamptons. Topping Rose House brings his seasonal American cooking to a stunning location in Bridgehampton. The newly restored 1842 Greek mansion houses the eatery on the ground floor. The restaurant includes a 50-seat dining room, a wrap around porch and a 25-seat bar room, with leather barrel chairs and two original fireplaces. There is also a private event space in a barn next door.
In addition to the restaurant, a full-service inn is in the works, which will open in early 2013, featuring 22 guest rooms, wellness facilities and an outdoor pool. The restaurant's menu showcases produce from the inn's farm, along with products from local farmers, ranchers, and fisherman. Standouts from chef de cuisine Ty Kotz's menu include sweet corn agnolotti, roasted saddle of rabbit, and cornmeal streusel. The restaurant currently serves only dinner, but breakfast, lunch, and brunch are on the way. The bar features both domestic and international wines, along with seasonally inspired cocktails.
Dining room hours: Wednesday – Sunday, 5:30pm – 10pm
For some men cooking dinner involves a roasting pan and a spice rack, but sometimes they need a manly dose of cooking to really beef them up. Esquire food editor Ryan D'Agostino is here to provide that with his unapologetically male-centric "Eat Like a Man" cookbook.
It’s D'Agostino's repertoire of perfect recipes, essays on how food figures into the moments that define a man’s life, and all the useful kitchen points every man needs to know. He employed the help of chef friends Daniel Boulud, Tom Colicchio, Eric Ripert and Michael White, who shortlisted a selection of recipes for the man who loves to eat, read, dream and cook food. Amongst the golden nuggets of foodie knowledge the book features a definitive step-by-step, do's and don’ts guide to hosting a dinner party.
On Monday, April 16th at 6:30pm, join Groove With Me for the seventh annual "Tap & Tapas," a star-studded night of dance and food that raises funds for underprivileged young girls. Guests will enjoy food tastings from some of NYC's most celebrated hotspots, including Scarpetta, The Red Cat, LeBernadin, A Voce, Jacques Torres Chocolates and many more. Foodies will enjoy a tribute to Tom Colicchio, host of Bravo's "Top Chef" and chef/owner of Colicchio & Sons and Craft restaurants.
Scholars and tourists will no longer have to sneak in snacks while visiting The New York City Public Library. Tom Colicchio’s sandwich chain, ‘Wichcraft,’ opened their one year pilot in the main branch of the New York Public Library today. This new venture, finally inside the library instead of just in Bryant Park, will consist of two mobile sandwich carts offering library patrons and visitors a simple menu of sandwiches, pastries, ice cream and beverages during regular library hours. Friends of the Library will receive a ten percent discount on their purchases.
He may be the one casting judgement on Top Chef, but Tom Colicchio is about to let the spotlight fall on his own performance.
Chef Tom will perform at Hill Country tonight in honor of Restaurant Industry Night. The event will donate 20 percent of all food and beverage profits to C-Cap, an organization that helps underprivileged youths begin careers in the food industry. The evening will also feature of the musical stylings of the equally smooth-scalped restaurateur, Joe Bastianich. Doors will open at 7pm and more information is available here.
The cooking competition/foodie TV career enhancer is going south this winter and is changing things up a bit. In the past, news of the show's debut is followed by a list of the 16 chefs planning on competing for the title. This year, however, the TV station has revealed 29 "hopefuls" that wil be narrowed down some time in the future. In addition to the bulked-up participant list, fans can expect to see the regular parade of celebrity guest appearances including Pee Wee Herman, Patti LaBelle, Charize Theron, Cat Cora, John Besh and Tim Love. Of course, the always-hungry judges, Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi and Gail Simmons will have final say on deliciousness but will this year be joined by perennial nice guy, Emeril Lagasse and Hugh Acheson.
Although the rainy days this weekend might suggest an early Fall, Summer is still not over. Especially not in the Hamptons. Here's our picks for this weekend!
