The ombre look has been showing up everywhere since it made its big boom in the hair industry a couple years back. Since then designers have been popping out new products from accessories, to clothing, to shoes and handbags, showing that fantastic color fade. We love the ombre look for summer and we’ve made a great list of ombre must-haves for this season! If you really want to go all out ombre, and haven’t seen our DIY ombre nails piece yet, check that out too! This summer is going to be all things ombre, so get on it!
This season’s “it” shoe is the wedge sneaker and it’s giving new meaning to the term ‘high-tops.' Wedge sneakers made their first appearance a few years back (between 2006 and 2007) and came in a style that made fashionistas a bit skeptical. After some revision, they made a second lap around the style scene in late 2011 with the emergence of Isabel Marant’s Bekket high-tops and became a hit to style leaders everywhere. Now, it seems, every celebrity from Beyonce to Dakota Fanning is stepping out wearing these sky-high sneaks.
While this classic trend has never gone out of style, floral prints and patterns will certainly be making a much more diverse statement for summer 2012. Betsey Johnson mixed vibrant colors with oversized tropical floral prints for her spring/summer 2012 collection, while Prada brought back the mod-look, and still others like Valentino and Isaac Mizrahi took a romantic approach.
A big trend for spring and summer is colorful denim with prints and patterns. We love this look because it can be incorporated into multiple styles. Here are a few of our favorites to get your fashionable hands on this season! Check them out and see which style suits you best. Spice up your wardrobe with a fun and vibrant pair of denim this season!
Vertically striped pants look great on anyone because of their slimming and elongating effect. We also love the bright colors that pump up an otherwise simple look. Find them in high-end brands like Current/Elliot, or for more affordable prices like the Moto Tapered Stripe Jeans from Topshop.
Big bangles are the latest fun accessories hitting the streets for this spring and summer. We saw them on the runways during SS ’12 FW, as designers everywhere decorated their models with big, bold, bulky bangles. From Fendi, to Yves Saint Laurent, to Chanel and Donna Karan, big bangles were a themed accessory. Chanel opted for gold gemmed cuffs, while Donna Karan chose bulky wooden bangles.
As the weather warms, bangles are appearing everywhere. This accessory really makes a bold statement with striking colors and daring patterns. Wear them alone, or pile them up to create a fierce look.
We might not know how to change a flat tire or what to do when our i-Phone stops working, but when it comes to our wardrobes, a true fashionista is always prepared. Glam Damn It's list of favorite wardrobe must-haves for Spring 2012 will leave you ready to take over the world! (Or, at least your own closet.) There are so many great options this season, whether you're looking to reinvent your style or just update your handbag.
The keywords for right now are girly and bright. Soft lines, versatile pieces and low-maintenance fabrics combined with a color palette encompassing nearly every shade under the rainbow make dressing for Spring 2012 a breeze no matter what your sartorial preference is.
It was the fashion trend seen 'round the world during this past fashion week brigade. The bright, boxy bag made repeat appearances on the arms of fashionistas all over. Fashion bloggers in the know such as Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere, Atlantic-Pacific’s Blair, and Carolina of Fashion Squad, have illustrated the many ways you can style this fun springtime accessory.
Warm weather is finally coming our way, and with it, our warm weather clothes! Dresses, tanks, and most importantly, sandals and peep toe shoes are appearing slowly, but surely. As we have started to see, this spring’s trends encompass bright colors and crazy patterns, so it should come as no surprise that shoes have followed suit. The chunky, funky heels are definitely an interesting add to the mixture of chaos going on for spring ’12 styles. With wild colors, brilliant combos of fabrics and textures, and of course, the chunky heel or wedge, these funky shoes will be taking on the style scene by storm.
Everything is getting bigger and better this spring! From the chunky statement necklaces, to the bold bright colors. Another trend to add to your style this upcoming season is big (in size and number) hair accessories. They were all over the spring/summer 2012 runways and they are slowly starting to transcend onto the pavement, and we're loving it! We accessorize our jewelry, bags, and shoes with our ensembles, so why not make our hair look trendy too?
Try the more is more approach with this look. If you’re adding a bobby pin to your bun, add 5 more, and make them noticeable. If you're pulling your hair back, stick in some bright colored barrettes or beaded (yes, that’s right, beaded) hair ties.
Topshop launched a capsule t-shirt collection at London Fashion Week designed by former recipients of their NEWGEN sponsorship --an esteemed award for emerging fashion designers.
The collection commemorates ten years of the retail giant supporting new talents and offering them a platform to showcase their designs to a global audience. Notable NEWGEN alums include Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane, Matthew Williamson and Alexander McQueen.
The limited edition t-shirts feature colorful and playful designs from the likes of newly minted labels Erdem, Louisa Gray, Meadham Kirchoff and Mary Katrantzou, who recently created her own collection with the retailer. A percentage of sales will go to Centrepoint, a London based organization that aims to end homelessness.
Tees are on exhibit at LFW in the NEWGEN exhibition center alongside this years recipients of the award. Winners' collections were shown in runway shows, exhibitions and installations throughout the week.
