TRUE BLOOD
For those of us obsessed with television dramas there is a strong desire to be closer to our beloved characters. We yearn to be transported to the time and location of the shows we watch on a weekly basis. The cookbook industry has devised a plan to make obsessed fans feel like they too are living in Bon Temps, the 1960's, and even the late Middle Ages. Sadly, Sookie or Don Draper won’t be serving us drinks, and no one has invented a time machine yet. Thanks to these three cookbooks, fans and those who love to cook, can enjoy authentic recipes from the Bayou-set True Blood, Medieval dishes served in Game of Thrones’ Westeros, or the cocktails drank in Mad Men’s 1960's haunts. All the featured recipes are a great addition to a viewing party with friends or a creative way to mix up a dinner party.
Last night, BlackBook Magazine celebrated their milestone 15th birthday. That's fifteen years of blazing trails and featuring killer covers with a-list talent. A huge feat for a publication that has made it through the .com crash, recession and are still going strong. The festivities were held at the new Dream Downtown's PH-D rooftop lounge. The evening was sponsored by Tequila Don Julio and Heineken and featured music by Neon Indian and Das Racist. Special guests (outside of the birthday boys and girls) included Alexander Skarsgard, Kristin Bauer (True Blood), James Ransone (The Wire) and Estelle. The giftbags were stuffed with all sorts of goodies from Armani, Elizabeth Arden and Swarovski. Pop Chips (as usual) were also included. (Is it me or are Pop Chips taking over the world?)
In the world of the red carpet the outfit is an important statement but nothing says more than a pair of fabulous shoes!
Model/actress Brooklyn Decker accessorized her red-hot leather mini dress with Christian Louboutin "Pigalle" spiked gold heels at the ESPY Awards.
True Blood star, Anna Paquin went with a black-and-red combo, pairing her Antonio Berardi dress with perforated Gucci open-toe heels at Comic-Con
Spotted! Alexander Skarsgård of HBO's True Blood was seen parading around New York yesterday (08/07/11) along with his iPod for company, like most city slickers on the go. He sure does make that T-shirt he's donning look damn lucky...
The 34-year-old actor just recently split with girlfriend Kate Bosworth, but he didn't look too bummed during his appearance on Regis & Kelly last Wednesay where the topic of his, err, clothing-free job in the hit television show came up.
When asked if the frequent nudity in True Blood ever made him nervous, Alexander charmingly responds, "I'm from Sweden...We don't wear clothes in Sweden. Can't you tell how uncomfortable I am?"
Everyone’s favorite freaks are back for Season 4 of HBO’s Emmy-winning vampire drama series, True Blood. When you become a series fanatic for whatever show, it’s hard not to fall just as hard for the opening song. This season of True Blood will be invaded by another type of night-dwelling creature: zombies. In particular, these zombs are of the British swag variety. For the first episode, Nick Cave and Neko Case have teamed up to record a cover of “She’s Not There,” the 1965 breakout hit from the Zombies.
We've been vampire obsessed since the early days of True Blood, and thankfully, the trend isn't dead yet. With the season premier just around the corner, sink your teeth into Tarte's newest collaboration with the series' award-winning lead makeup artist, Brigette Myre-Elli.
Already a cult favorite, the Natural Cheek Stain by Tarte, $32, is revamped (no pun intended) in the Tarte for True Blood Limited-Edition set. The sparkling red cheek stain blends on smoothly and lasts well into the night, illuminating while giving the cheeks a natural flush of color with mineral pigments and fruit extracts.
True Blood's SEXY star - Ryan Kwanten, is named Man of the Year by Australia's GQ Magazine.
Honestly, can anyone argue with them...look at how great he suits the 2010 cover!
Psychedelic rockers the Black Angels have, up until now, seemed perpetually stuck in the 1960s. Their druggy brand of atmospheric tunes sounded like something you would listen to while religiously following the Grateful Dead around town, whilst on a pretty serious acid trip.
But with the Texas five-piece’s third full-length album, Phosphene Dream, released on September 14, the Angels have cleared up their musical haze; the full effect is less hangover and more groovy rock-out. Released on the revamped blues label Blue Horizon and recorded in Los Angeles, Dream relocates the Angels from their time trap and plants them a little closer to the present. In fact, the band even recently collaborated with Brit trip- hoppers UNKLE for a song on the Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack called "With You in My Head." You can't get any more current than vampires.
Rob Pattinson and Forks High lovers alike can now share a greater love for the sexy, mortal vs. vampire phenomenon that has swept the nation--A clothing line sold at Nordstrom. Twilight Saga: New Moon collection is set to hit racks in October—perfect timing for the sequel’s November release date. Can we expect to see you Twilight gurus decked out in these fashions at the midnight premier? Let’s hope so.
So I’m sitting on the plane from Chicago to LA listening to Metric and desperately trying to tune out the little devils sitting in front of me. I have never seen such bad parenting in my entire life. I swear the more time I spend in airports lately touring, the more I notice how many bad parents there are … “Oh little Bobby do you want grilled chicken or steak for dinner hunny? Or would you rather both? Mommy can make you both!” … barf! And you wonder why these kids act like spoiled little monsters!
My parents made dinner and I ate it. There was no long-winded discussion needed for a 5 year old’s sudden whim for a nice hanger steak instead of fried chicken. When I went on planes I sat in my seat with my seatbelt fastened and colored in my Barbie coloring book. I didn’t put the tray table up and down and up and down until the person in front of me got a stress ulcer. Now I love kids but I swear to g-d if one thing could make me not hold back it is airport child monsters. But anyways, I will focus on the positive, which is the fact of why I am on this plane in the first place. And that is touring!
