Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham certainly hasn’t lost her posh sense of style. Expecting her fourth child soon with soccer star David Beckham, Victoria prepares to expand her clothing empire as well as her family. Victoria by Victoria Beckham, her second clothing line, will be available in stores in spring 2012 and will be slightly more affordable for fashion mavens, ranging from $500-$900. Still not a bargain by any means, the collection is a bit of a break on the wallet from the original Victoria Beckham collection, costing around $1,400 for one of her signature hip hugging dresses.
Where there’s an outrage, an objection is sure to follow. Or…maybe not. Subsequent to public awareness of Fillipa Hamilton’s exaggerated Photoshopped ads for Ralph Lauren, people were beginning to wonder what would happen to little Ralphy’s realm. But, if you’ve been an avid Ralph Lauren supporter from kindergarten through junior high, like me – you’d have accepted that a model may come and go, but a lively stitched horse is everlastingly. A protest was prearranged at a Chicago store, at which a monstrous group of just four people showed up. Amazing! I guess that will really put a dimple in Ralphy’s sales. Civilians continue to point the finger at the fashion industry for America’s fixation on thinness. Conversely, I say we take a poll on how many non-fashionable people made New Year’s resolutions to lose more weight. Putting the blame on the fashion industry for simply wanting to look slim in chiffon is really not a big deal. Apparently plenty must agree, due to the powerful protest turnout. Oops! V Magazine just dedicated an entire issue to the curvy girls, for goodness sake! With that said - it’s your piece of pie, not ours.
Initially, I recall Beyonce releasing her I Am...Sasha Fierce album, whilst every cruel soul in the world Photoshopped her body to a size beyond Beth Ditto's (love you, Beth). So, it was to my surprise that a glimpse of V Magazine's The Size Issue, photographed by Solve Sundsbo, revealed an identically replicated pose from Mrs. Sasha Fierce herself using various plus size models - and I don't doubt that Beyonce didn't have her say in it. Regardless of whether or not the images look like a Dove commercial going sultry, is this a new epidemic? Surely, for years upon centuries, I've honored being painfully slim and admired numerous amounts of runway girls for their ability to say no to food, and don a size 0 for season after season. But, is this really a new opportunity for fashionistas to have a plus-size model to cry over? This is a new year, new season and new strut - so is it time to tell Kaiser to peel of his pride and do an additional drape for the curvy girls? Meanwhile, I'd love to speak with designers who can turn a Roberto Cavalli into a Torrid sensation - is that you? Email me at korey@joonbug.com
We thought the second issue of Love magazine was getting a bit carried away when it revealed two different cover images, but V Magazine has taken it a step further with their new issue, boasting a remarkable 19 different covers.
The covers are for a special V magazine supplement entitled ‘World of Women & Supreme’ that comes with V61 and sees a whole host of models, including V favorite Iris Strubegger, posing with everything from raw meat to reptile claws draped on their bodies.
Most people consider Lady Gaga to be just another fabricated pop diva; but we know better.
The editorial shots in this month’s issue of V Magazine were taken by photographer Sebastian Faena who has shot the likes Naomi, Jourdan, and Linda (yes, that’s Campbell, Dunn, and Evangelista) and feature Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (no wonder she stuck to Gaga) in Marilyn Monroe meets space-aged dominatrix themed photos. Gaga dons one of her famous blonde wigs and an orbiting headpiece designed by Nasir Mazhar. Gaga puts on a much more daring pose (baring her breasts) than she did even for the iconic cover of Rolling Stone, where her entire body was covered only by well-placed transparent bubbles.
Caroline Trentini was born on July 6th, 1987 in Rio Grande de Sul, Brazil. Caroline was brought up in a single parent home after the passing of her father and was unexpectedly discovered at the age of 13 while walking down the street. This was no ordinary occurrence because she was discovered by the same model scout that scooped up Gisele Bundchen, perhaps an omen of the enormous success Trentini would have in her later modeling career. The discovery sparked a move to the model town of Sao Paolo and eventually New York City where Trentini couldn’t speak English but was fluent in the language of modeling.
The latest issue of V magazine sees Iris Strubegger, better known as the face of Valentino, working the androdgynous look to perfection in this dark editorial.
Photographed by Willy Vanderperre, the Austrian model ignored the summer temperatures to preview Fall fashions including a fur coat and thigh-high rain boots topped off, bizarrely, by a pair of white fishnet tights over the top. The shoot, entitled A Touch of Class, is a high-fashion take on an aristocratic uniform mixing the masculine ‘hunter’ style of the rainboots and high-waisted pants with the glamour of the oversized shoulder pads and dress coats.
No, your eyes do not deceive you; the girl with the tattoos and conical bra is indeed none other than our favorite Hollywood golden girl, Cameron Diaz.
The editorial shots, shot by photography duo Mert and Marcus, are from V magazine’s Beauty Issue, for which Cameron also graces the cover (check out those Prada thigh-high boots!) Chanelling Madonna, Diaz sports peroxide blond hair and an imitation of Jean Paul Gaultier’s legendary conical bra that Madonna wore on her Blond Ambition tour, though this one was made by the on-set stylist from gaffer tape- pretty impressive don't you think?
The May issue of the coveted V Magazine features an army of supermodels in an array of bathing suits and summer florals and brights. Stylist Yuki James goes against the grain - taking you through the most wanted evening wear of the seasons in not so summery of a color palate. Photographer Seiji Fujimori captured poses by model Katarina Ivanovska from Women Management in an assortment of sleek patterned or highly embellished knee length dresses and leggings or tights (which will still be in the mix for this upcoming fall season). Hair by Dennis Gots, Makeup by Asami Taguchi.
