W Magazine's Ever Changing Face of Beauty

Last night, W Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Stefano Tonchi, partnered up with Global P&G Prestige President, Joanne Crews, to host the Ever Changing Face of Beauty event at our big apple’s Park Avenue Armory. In the frenzy of Fashion Week, W pulled out all the stops using the massive arena-like space to welcome more than 600 guests. If there was ever a fashion week party worth clawing your way into, this was it.

The event celebrated a video installation by world-renowned fashion photographer, Sølve Sundsbø and had a celebrity guest list that could go on for days. The video featured 2 large screens representing man on one, and woman on the other. Throughout the video, both screens show the outcomes of evolution in beauty around the world and its consequences.

The Best of Blake Lively

It is no wonder why everyone in the fashion world is head-over-heals in love with Blake Lively. She is what we call a “package deal,” meaning this gal is not just a pretty face with an impeccable sense of fashion, she’s got personality and a brain too. Iris Apfel's Jewelry Design Collab

We think it’s safe to say that most everyone is a sucker for cute, grandmotherly ladies – especially when they have spunk. How can anyone resist cracking a smile when witnessing that I’ve-already-given-all-my-damns attitude that only develops when mountains of style become tempered with age? They’ve earned it, right? Right. That brings us to Iris Apfel, acclaimed fashion icon. The New York native, legendary hipster, businesswomen, and former master interior designer (she’s worked for nine presidents from Truman to Clinton!) celebrated her 90th birthday this year. You can see how we fell in love at first sight—she’s exactly what we all want to be when we grow up.

We Have a Fetish for Louis Vuitton Rain Boots

Rain boots and the term "sexy" have never quite been synonymous. Sloshing around town in clunky, squeaky Hunter boots, sopping wet jeans and runny mascara is more like it.

Leave it to the eternal trendsetter, Louis Vuitton, to bestow upon us a chic alternative - the Fetish Rain Boots. Oh, and as a disclaimer, we do not recommend you type that phrase into a Google search engine.

Making their debut for this Fall/Winter season, the wellies put some sex appeal back into rainy days. We're obsessed particularly with the cream colored version shown in this snapshot by Alex White for WMagazine.com.

Mila Kunis Injured During Black Swan Shooting

Mila Kunis who plays Natalie Portman's prima ballerina rival in Black Swan confesses to W Magazine that getting there was anything but easy. It left her bruises and at the end, she was broken.

"I had never danced in my life," she admitted. "I trained for four months, seven days a week, five hours a day. I had one day off on my birthday. I lost 20 pounds. I tore a ligament. I dislocated my shoulder. I have two scars on my back. And it was worth every minute."

The movie is a real success and scored a Golden Globe nomination so the suffering was worth it. But it was the first and the last time you saw the 27-year-old actress in a tutu!

Hell's Kitchen Turns To Rock And Roll Heaven Every Thursday At The Hudson Hotel

It isn't often that downtown kids break the 23rd street mark to go out, but every Thursday exceptions are made to get the downtown crew all the way to Hells Kitchen to party in the Library at the Hudson Hotel.

Club Calco brings together Kelle Calco, Tara Foxx, Tommy Hottpants, Nathanial John and Dynamite Dave of "The Party Death," Miss Guy, Ian El Dorado, and guest DJs like Blondie, Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Josh Madden, Brandon Flowers of The Killers, Vinny Chase of Entourage, PAPER and W Magazine, among many more to "Come play with fire and paint it black. Come dance, little sister, dance with a motley cast of muppets, models, and musicians..." while Ash Fox captures the night in pictures.

One More Flash Before 31

Kim Kardashian admits to US Magazine that her nude photo shoot days may be over. “I’m too old for that now…I wanted to get it all out of my system before I turned 30.” Oh yes Kim, because you will look so different at 31.

Better get your W Magazine now. Her last nude photographs are not even a week old on store shelves.

Guess she best find a new man in the next year too. Future boyfriends are currently upset that they won't be receiving a 12 month holiday calendar.

W Magazine Films Documentary

Vogue might have even more competition with W Magazine, and it’s not on the newsstands. Cameras have been documenting the making of W’s September issue under new Editor-in-Chief Stefano Tonchi, no doubt giving us fashion lovers yet another insight into the magazines we worship. While Vogue’s The September Issue was great, W’s documentary will surely give us more drama due to the hierarchy shifts the magazine has seen in the past several months. The film is set to be releases some time in late October.

Lunch With Lartigue

Thursday, a selection of Brooklyn's best and most prominent figures were invited to enjoy the premiere of High Style at the Brooklyn Museum. Participants, including Diane Von Furstenberg, Chloe Sevigny, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Band of Outsiders, set the tone for the exhibit, which was followed by a cocktail hour, dinner and after party, a glorious bar, and a twenty foot Andy Warhol pinata filled with Hostess snacks. Lim's booth was lead by a foursome of drag queens giving out life advice and leather bowties to anyone who dared to approach.

Lunch With Lartigue

Tuesday night I caught a brief ending to an open Q&A with Ruffian designers, Brian Wolk and Claude Morais. The design duo spoke on the craftsmanship of their Fall 2010 bevy- taking note of their silk blouses, flaring knee-length skirts and cropped jackets. Brian expressed major enthusiasm when speaking about the sequined jersey dresses, which required the designers to send them out for handmade work. The small, yet intimate event allowed attendees to roam the studio admiring the designers sketches, artwork and wall of inspiration. The collection was partially inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Nights, a theme that carried through the vintage arrangement of images within the design room. The evening was hosted by Friends of Fashion, a national social enterprise created to support the fashion industry through scheduled exclusive events, private shopping parties and designer meet-and-greet opportunities.
