Rock The Bells is an annual hip hop festival that orginally took place in Southern California only, but has since toured throughout the world. The concert features a lineup of high-profile alternative hip hop acts, often headlined by a more mainstream artist. The first festival was held in 2004, featuring a re-united Wu-Tang Clan, who performed 4 months before Ol' Dirty Bastard's death.

I don't like change. And while I'm an adult and have come to accept that change is enevitable and nothing is forever, good and bad. I can not forsee for the life of me the music industry especially my beloved hip hop getting any better any time soon. Don't get me wrong there are a handful of legends still around.
For this particular article I'm going to focus on the hip hop industry. You have your Jay Z, Eminem legends in the game. Then you have guys like Dr. Dre who are still constantly working behind the scenes ( Eminem's Relapse, and Recovery album as well as songs off 50's album) but don't drop an album but every 10 years. After that what do you have ?
Lil Wayne who is upper class as far as hip hop goes these days, but guys like him and T.I., who I believe to be one of the best pure lyricest today, don't really focus on music. They would rather keep it real or jump to movies or try some other medium. As a hip hop fan this is frustrating because I can remember N.W.A. or Ice Cube coming out with records every 6 months ! Now it seems we have to wait a year and a half sometimes just to get something new.
This is going to be a name dropping article. We have in this "Carry It" song a team of famous guys : Travis Barker from Blink 182, Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine, Raekwon and RZA who are in the Wu-Tang. Travis Barker who originally is a punk music drummer worked with a lot of hiphop stars this year : Lil Wayne, A-Trak (DJ), T.I, and Waka Flocka.
He also called Rick Ross, B.o.B, Swizz Beatz, Ludacris, and members of Linkin Park and Slipknot to work on his collaborative solo album called "Give the Drummer Some".
This album sould be released in february. Raekwon said about "Carry It" : "This is beautiful, man. This is going to be a f**king hit record." Well I do love Raekwon and Wu-Tang's music in general. However, I found this song pretty boring. Tom Morello's guitar solo is pretty cool, but that's it.
Here they come ! Those naughty folks are once again ready to burn LA stage. I think Wu-Tang guys have always knew how to stay fresh and always bring something new. This is probably because they all had the freedom to go on solo and then come back to the crew with fresh ideas.
Anyway, all I'm saying is that they were among the best MCs, and still are. So get ready to witness the great performance of RZA, Raekwon, GZA, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, UGod, Method Man, Masta Killah, and the recent Cappadonna.
Wu-Tan Clan live at Club Nokia on December 5

New York's largest music event, the CMJ Music Marathon, a five-day, 15-hour-a-day music romp spanning all genres, is taking over New York City next week, October 19-23, with peformances scheduled by Yo La Tengo, Oh Land, Kevin Devine, GZA, and Reggie Watts.
As one of the world’s most important showcases of new music artists, CMJ draws tens of thousands of professionals from all sectors of the music and film industry. More than 1,400 artists and over 120,000 music fans will come together in the Big Apple to catch the latest buzz band, cool indie film or learn more about the ever-changing music industry from key innovators, insiders and celebrities.
How surprised can we be, though? This is Kanye West, the most radically media-conscious celebrity we’ve ever met! Let’s face it, the man knows how to drum up publicity- good or bad (but then again, there’s no such thing as bad publicity). So it should come as no surprise that after his still untitled album drops on November 16, he and Bieber the Boy Wonder will lay down some tracks with The Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon. Do you think West and Bieber decided this backstage at a concert? Shook hands at a press conference? Bumped into each other at a club? No, the partnership was formed on Twitter. They tweeted (twote?) each other expressing mutual admiration, and here we are.
The details as to what the three artists will come up with are still murky, but it is clear that it’s going to happen. Justin Bieber feat. Kanye West feat. Raekwon. What do you think?
Can posh South Beach handle hip-hop and R&B infusions from SRC Records and its kingpin, legendary CEO Steve Rifkind? The former Loud Records mogul thinks Miami is ripe for his imposing lineup of diversified artists and could be the next epicenter of the music world.
Rifkind, the man responsible for breaking in the Wu-Tang Clan, Big Pun and Mobb Deep, continues to impose his will on the industry with current megastars like the ubiquitous Akon and suburbanite rapper Asher Roth.
MR - You are deeply involved with the "Think Pink Rocks" concert here in Boca Raton in October during breast cancer awareness month and once mentioned your father is a breast cancer survivor.
Steve - Yeah my dad is. But it is close to home for a whole bunch of different reasons.
MR - Most people don't associate men with having breast cancer, so is it extra important to bring your father to light?
