YSL
It’s been reported that YSL creative director, Hedi Slimane plans to make a re-branding initiative to the fashion house that has people up and buzzing. According to WWD, the iconic French Yves Saint Laurent name will be changed to Saint Laurent Paris by the time that Slimane’s first collection for spring 2013 with the company hits the shelves.
A new season is here and it’s time for all of us to pull out our summer make up and update our look for the season. The S/S runways were full of beauty trends that are fun, fresh, and totally doable! From bold brows to bright colorful lips, you are sure to find a look that suits your personal style. Below we provide you with our favorite styles; please, do try these at home!
Colorful Lips
From wine-colored stained pouts at Prabal Gurung to bright reds at Jason Wu, statement lips are everywhere this season. Get behind this trend by picking a color that works with your skin tone. As we saw on the runways, the color itself doesn't really matter. It could be blue, purple, orange, or pink, just pick a tone you like, with a matte finish, and you’ll get a look that’s perfect for you and right on trend!
You want a sneak peak of YSL’s cruise and spring menswear collections? You’ll have to wait, or get into the retail biz as the word on the street is that the new creative director, Hedi Slimane’s first collections will not be given way to the public, or press for that matter, for another several months. This shocking news is bringing a new meaning to the word “exclusion” in the fashion industry, where not even the top of the top a-listers will be invited to view the lines.
In case you were unaware, you should know that there’s a world of difference between a fall/winter friendly fragrance and a spring/summer friendly fragrance. Your scent this season should be light and compelling rather than obnoxiously polluting the air in a five foot radius around you. To make sure you don’t become one of those sad individuals all alone at the club because of his poor cologne IQ, check out these 5 summer-friendly scents that were made to complement bikinis and margaritas.

Purple is a color that works for everyone. When it comes to clothing, it's arguably one of the most versatile colors and compliments practically every skin tone. So why not try purple eyeshadow? Bright colored eyeshadows can look a little over-the-top at times, but purple is one eyeshadow shade just about anyone can pull off without looking like a clown. (Unlike blue -which often goes so terribly wrong, no matter how subtle one applies it.) Remember, application technique and choosing the right tones is everything.
So if you want to add a pop of color to your make-up routine, but aren't sure what color to go with or how to pull it off -opt for purple. You can find it readily available in varying shades and palettes. Rule of thumb: the darker /warmer you go, the more refined it will look. Deep plums and more warm-toned purples are great for daytime, as are sheer lavenders. In the evening you can go more dramatic with brighter tones. Here, we show you how to take purple from day to night. (And if you still need help, we've included a handy tutorial video!)
As any true fashionista knows, a red sole can only mean one thing: Louboutin! Ever since 1992, when Christian Louboutin first painted red nail polish on the bottom of one of his shoes, the red sole has become the unspoken trademark of the world’s most beloved heel.
Well, “unspoken” may be the key word here. Earlier this year, Yves Saint Laurent began selling his own version of the shoe, but without proper acknowledgement. YSL reps argue that no acknowledgement is needed, as the red sole is not trademarked.
The Spring 2011 runway shows depicted drama as fashion’s most notorious brands sent their model’s puckering their pouts down the runway. Bold hues ranging from pale oranges to burnt reds to electric pinks were seen on the lips of Chanel, Fendi, Gucci, DVF, and YSL’s models. Fashion is a form of communication so if you want to say something, wear an eye-catching lip. Here is one invaluable beauty tip-orange is an exceptional color that happens to look good on any skin tone, try YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture in Le Orange ($30) for a truly vivd look. For a softer lip, you can try Chanel’s Rouge Allure in Nude ($32). However, if you can not justify spending more than $10 for a lipstick, Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color in Coral Crush will work all the same ($4.99 at Target).
Follow Salma Hayek's lead by trading out your little black dress for a little white one this summer. The actress looked cool and fresh in a white YSL dress at the NYC premiere of Grown Ups Wednesday night. She even added a pop of color by wearing cherry red accessories and matching red lipstick. A white dress shows off a tan and is much cooler than wearing black. White House/Black Market has a perfect LWD on sale for $79.99 (if you're ready to make the switch!).
